The Altamura Gastronomic Tour offers a unique experience that blends tradition, cuisine, and breathtaking landscapes.
Departing from Matera, the journey begins with a visit to Caseificio Dicecca, where participants will discover the secrets of local cheese production. A cheese tasting session will be accompanied by a glass of local wine, while experts showcase traditional cheesemaking techniques.
The tour continues with a stop at a historic bakery in Altamura to taste the famous Puglian focaccia. Afterward, a guided walk through Altamura’s historic center will lead to the Monastery of Santa Chiara, where visitors will indulge in the traditional "Tette delle Monache" pastry, paired with the local Padre Beppe Elixir liqueur.
The experience culminates with an outdoor lunch in the Mercadante Forest, featuring fresh cheeses and local specialties, all paired with fine local wine. Surrounded by nature, this final stop offers a relaxing and immersive conclusion to the day.
The tour ends with a return to Matera, leaving guests with unforgettable flavors and traditions from Puglia.
