Chianti small producers wine tour from Siena

Here is what you will live

More than 1000 wineries; it's impossible to know all of them. This is why with this tour from Siena we want to bring you to little less known producers who makes outstanding wines and created a real bond with the territory of Chianti. Not a touristy experience at all.

Your first small winery visited is Matteoli: "I was born in Gaiole in Chianti but I discovered the bond deep with this land after moving to Milan for work. Today the winery produces Chianti Claissico. I decided to come back to my territory and share the love for this land creating a special product! The type of Chianti Classico DOCG we produce is unique in its gender and it is the result of a specific kind of soil combined with the total exposure of the vineyard to the sun and the peculiarity of the present grapes, Sangiovese and Merlot. Each bottle contains all the aromas of our beautiful territory, from the wild berries to spicier notes. Ours is a genuine, handcrafted wine."

With this tour you'll be greeted by the property manager and start to walk among the vineyards and the olive trees, touch the plants with your own hands. You will visit the winery and learn about the production process that leads to wine.
As anticipated, the Company is small and family run, with 6 hectares of land of which 3 for vineyards and the rest dedicated to olive grove with 600 plants.

You will visit the vineyards and the olive grove and have the chance to discover the vines from which the wine and vinsanto is born. After the visit to the countryside you will have the opportunity to visit the small cellar and discover the slow process that brings the bunch of grapes to turn into wine. The harvest, the destemming, the fermentation, the racking, refining in steel and then in wood, bottling. 
Finally you will be welcomed in their shop in Gaiole in Chianti where you can taste the wines accompanied by typical Tuscan products..

After Matteoli you're going to visit Borgo Casa Al Vento: "The annual production is around 30,000 bottles and we are proud to support the genuineness of our wine, "made by hand and with the heart". The great interest in natural agronomic methods, which are less invasive, has led to the decision to embark on the difficult path towards registration as a biological estate, which gives more value to the production of wine while safeguarding health and the environment by succeeding in becoming organic from 2012. All our harvest is done by hand and the grapes are selected one by one. The result is a great wine, full bodied but immediately ready to drink. Our philosophy is to create the true identity of Chianti Classico producing a product with 100% sangiovese."
