Domaine Bardi d'Alquier

Welcome to the Bardi d’Alquier domain,

Located in the heart of the Faugères appellation region, in Languedoc, Domaine Bardi d’Alquier is the very image of a tradition based on the love of this land and the constant desire to sublimate its fruits with a rigorous and creative work that knows how to innovate while respecting the terroir.

340 meters above the sea level, on schist and clay hillsides, in a wild and beautiful countryside, our small 12-hectare vineyards located at Faugères, is mainly planted with massal-selection Syrah as well as Grenache blanc, Marsanne and Roussanne. Our wines blend delicacy, balance and aromatic complexity expressing the soul of the appellation.

The Alquier family has owned the domain since 1870 and through generations of winegrowers, they have built its renown. In 1962, Gilbert Alquier was one of the first to plant syrah in Faugères, marking a decisive turn for the domain since a few years later this noble variety would give all its elegance and delicacy to his blends.

Now, artisan winemaker Thibaud and Sophie Bardi cultivate their small estate.

The vineyard, an exceptional terroir, is brought to life exclusively by cultivation practices that respect a rare and fragile ecosystem in the Haut Languedoc Natural Park.

Passionate about wine but also stones, Thibaud maintains his terraces and capitelles himself. No gesture in the vineyard is delegated; the vineyard or his ‘little garden’, as he usually says, is just the extension of his hand.

The main planted variety is the Syrah, remarkably aromatic on our schists, opening on a rich and vibrant fruit when left to breathe. The Grenache noir brings delicacy and elegance. The Mourvèdre, in small quantities, will blend in the final complexity of our blends.
The white varieties- Grenache blanc, Marsanne, Roussanne- are planted on 2 hectares to produce our white Faugères-appellation wine. Finally we have a few rows of Sauvignon blanc. We also like this variety that gives an aromatic and elegant white wine, with a fine sharpness.

A range of balanced wines with strong characters, mirroring the Faugères terroir. Born of diligent work and of listening to our surroundings, these wines express through our passion the diversity of our terroir.
