Über das Weingut und die Weine

The Gurrieri family has a long tradition of viticulture in Sicily deeply rooted in the passion for the agricultural and
peasant life passed down from Vincenzo and Graziella to their children Giovanni and Angela. In 2010, they achieved
their dream of producing a wine that best represented the identity of their land with the growing of grapewines and
olive trees in Chiaramonte Gulfi, Ragusa.
The 5 hectares in Chiaramonte Gulfi, 1 hectare in Mazzarrone, and 3 hectares in Comiso are all cultivated to produce
the finest wines, along with the best extravirgin olive oil. The family-run company puts great effort into producing
high-quality niche wines while respecting and enhancing their land. The Gurrieri collection was created from small
batches of around 3,000 bottles, thus witnessing the agricultural and peasant vocation of the Ragusa area.

The winery produces different varieties of Sicilian DOC, DOCG, and IGT wines, all organically grown, as Nero
d’Avola, Frappato, Grillo, Moscato, and Syrah, well-suited to the Sicilian climate.

Vincenzo (affectionately called ‘Don Vicè’) works passionately and tirelessly in the vineyard, while Graziella takes
care of the management and financial aspects of the company. In her honor, the family produces ‘Donna Grazia’, a
Classic Method Spumante from Nero d’Avola and Frappato grapes, vinified in white.

The organic vineyards are grown with the greatest respect for the land, nestled between the uncontaminated
Hyblean Mountains.

The calcareous soil and the Mediterranean climate contribute decisively to the production of exceptional wines
with unique strength, vibrant aromas and flavors. The pictoresque white dry-stone walls enrich the surrounding

The winery produces pure Nero d’Avola and Frappato grapes, as well as the DOCG Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico (both Rosé and White), and the Classic Method Spumante. Nero d’Avola, also known as ‘Calabrese’, is an ancient Sicilian grape variety cultivated in the rolling hills of the Hyblean Mountains, in the province of Ragusa. Frappato, a variety native to the Vittoria area, is grown in the farm with controlled yields to provide sweet and fine tannins. When vinified alone, Frappato results in a strong and persistent wine with fruity aromas that perfectly enhance the strong character of Nero d’Avola, thus making ‘Don Vicè’ and ‘Donna Grazia’ harmonious wines. Cerasuolo di Vittoria is the first and only Sicilian DOCG.: it’s a strong and ancient red grape variety capable of combining the strenght of Nero d’Avola and the gentleness of Frappato, resuting in a dry, full, round, fragrant and elegant wine.
Gurrieri wines are renowned for their enveloping character, harmony, sapidity, and elegance. They are the result of a
meticulous selection of grapes, grown without the use of synthetic chemicals, still harvested by hand in two stages to
maximize their maturation, and carefully transported in small crates to prevent any damage. The vines growing includes the Grillo and Moscato autochthonous varieties for the production of pure wines which express notes of freshness and good acidity thanks to the particular soil and local climate conditions. Syrah - the only non-native variety - has well adapted to the Sicilian environment and expresses itself with all its elegance in Gurrieri’s wines. The grapes are softly pressed and vinified (with longer maceration for the reds) in thermoregulated systems, followed by malolactic fermentation. Wines are then aged into wooden barrels or stainless steel silos for maturation and aging in the bottle, essential to make them fully express their potential.
