Pollak Vineyards IN WESTERN ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA, has seriously good wines throughout their list, and it is a surprise and delight to visit. The Pollack Winery itself is a very modern structure which I had some while ago admired from a distance from the lower Scenic Lookout on Afton Mountain--at that time I could only speculate on what it was, and admire the cleanness of its architecture--but if there was ever a winery worth a visit, here it is! I only wish I could have tried their Cabernet Sauvignon, but evidently it was so good they are completely out of it! What they DO have is a wide variety of wines exhibiting well the characteristics of each variety while exceeding expectations in each. Über das Weingut und die Weine

Pollak Vineyards is a small family-owned winery founded in 2003 with the purchase of a 98-acre farm west of Charlottesville and Crozet, Virginia. Today we have 27 acres of French vinifera used to make estate grown wine that has the finesse and balance of the traditional French varietals. Our tasting room and patio offer views of our first vines, the pond and the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains. It is a scenic setting to enjoy a glass of wine and some of the best of Central Virginia’s wine country. We are open from 11-5 daily, except for major holidays.
