Über das Weingut
Die Quinta de Santa Cristina liegt in der abgegrenzten Region Vinhos Verdes in der Unterregion Basto und hat eine jahrhundertealte Geschichte, denn sie befindet sich seit mehreren Generationen im Besitz derselben Familie. Die professionelle Weinproduktion begann im Jahr 2004 und ist heute im Besitz von António Pinto, seiner Frau Rosa Maria Pinto und ihrer Tochter Mónica Pinto.
Das rot-gelb gekleidete Weingut ist ein Wahrzeichen der Quinta de Santa Cristina. Das Weingut wurde 2012 gebaut und hat eine Produktionskapazität von 1 Million Litern. Heute werden nur noch etwa 500.000 Liter produziert. Von den Pressen über die Tanks bis hin zur Flasche - hier findet der gesamte Prozess der Weinherstellung statt.
Die Quinta de Santa Cristina bietet verschiedene Programme an, die es den Besuchern ermöglichen, die Aromen und den Geschmack des Vinho Verde kennenzulernen und gleichzeitig die Ruhe und den Frieden der Region zu genießen.

Über die Weine
Das Grundstück der Quinta de Santa Cristina liegt etwa 400 m hoch und besteht aus 3 Höfen: Quinta de Santa Cristina, Quinta da Capela und Quinta de Salgueiros.
Auf 60 Hektar Weinbergen werden etwa 14 verschiedene weiße und rote Rebsorten angebaut. Unsere Produktion ist als integrierte Produktion zertifiziert und folgt allen Regeln des Global G.A.P. Zertifikats.
Quinta de Santa Cristina bietet eine breite Palette von Produkten an, die unter den Marken Séquito, Santa Cristina und Quinta de Santa Cristina vertrieben werden, vom typischen Vinho Verde-Wein bis hin zu exklusiveren und anderen Produkten. Wir haben sowohl Einzelweine als auch Verschnitte und produzieren Weißweine, einen Rotwein, Rosés, Reserva und Schaumweine. Etwa 70% der Gesamtproduktion werden in Portugal vermarktet. Der restliche Teil wird in anderen Ländern verkauft, vor allem in Deutschland, Brasilien, den USA, Polen, der Schweiz..

Excellent wine tasting with below-average outsourced lunch
To start with the good -
After the lunch we went to the winery and had an AMAZING time, it did not disappoint. I wish that we had booked only the wine tasting, I even would have paid the same price to not have the local lunch. The information that our guide Sofia gave us was very in depth and she explained it so well and made us feel very welcome as she explained about the processes, the different grapes and the history of the wineyard and the family. The tasting itself was fantastic and we were given a small charcuterie board which was already much better than the local lunch. We tried 4 wines which were delicious, and we did not feel pressured to buy any wines directly.
It was around a 1 hour drive from where we were staying in Braga and easy to navigate to as well as to park. If the review was only for the winery I would have given it 5 stars.
The less good -
The pre-booking was quite confusing as it was advertised as 3 hours, however the timings of the local lunch were not well factored into this, and in fact our lunch was at 1pm with the tasting from 3pm onwards.
The local lunch was quite disappointing, from arriving at the restaurant we already felt we were an inconvience to the staff at the restaurant, and the food was not to our taste. We wanted to try the more local specialities but were disappointed with both the starter and the main, the octopus was quite mushy as if it had been frozen and quickly defrosted and the dessert as well of chocolate mousse was not good.
