Here is what's in store for you
English wine is now regarded as one of the best sparkling wine producing regionsin the world and many of the vineyards are only a stones throw away from London itself.
We will start the day with a tasting at Sedlescombe Organic, one of UK’s oldest vineyards. Established 1979 by the Cook Family, the vineyard showcases the origins of English Wine and still has many of the Germanic grape varieties first grown by commercial vineyards in the 1970’s. It has recently been taken over with the new owners planning to keep with the Organic and Biodynamic path, but they have also undertaken large plantings of the 3 noble grapes to diversify their range. Their new tasting room has sympathetically modernised the old farm buildings and made with a green approach to heating and insulating the building in line with their organic and biodynamic approach to wine making.
For the second stop of the day, we’ll visit Charles Palmer who are what we call a well kept secret. They make award winning English Sparkling Wine and while you may find it on the menu’s of exclusive restaurants very few know where to find their vineyard. Tastings take place in Wickham manor, which has played the backdrop to many movies and TV series it is quite literally quintessential England.
For the final stop of the day we’ll visit Woodchurch Wine, were you’ll get to meet the producer and have a tasting of his range of sparling and still wines.
Woodchurch vineyards hillside position looks south over the ancient Romney marsh down to the English channel, their land has the perfect geography and climate to produce the highest quality grapes and the finest English sparkling wine. Their wine is made in a state of the art winery by one of the UK’s leading winemakers whose philosophy of minimal intervention and diligent approach to wine-making result in superb wines.
