Sobre la bodega y los vinos
The BODEGAS LERMA property comprises of six hectares of estate-owned vineyards and an additional twenty-four hectares of adjacent century-old vineyards that are fully controlled and managed by the bodega. Tempranillo is the predominant grape variety, while Garnacha and Albillo are also cultivated. The winery is equipped with modern winemaking technology and a cellar of French and American oak barrels used in the ageing of the Reserva and Crianza red wines. The BODEGAS LERMA winemaker is well-known oenologist Oscar Navarro, who has had a long and prestigious career with the wine group Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro, where he also still works. Having studied oenology in the Escuela de la Vid y el Vino in Madrid, Oscar made his first wine in 1992 in Ribera del Duero under the tutelage of renowned Riojan winemaker, D. Luis Diez Gamito. In 1998, Oscar Navarro embarked on a new project with BODEGAS LERMA and has continued working on the project to this day. During this time, Oscar has seen the upgrading of the Arlanza region to D.O. status in January 2008 and has built up an excellent reputation with his Lerma Selección and Tinto Lerma wines. Now in 2010, he has produced NaBal, a new Crianza developed with the international wine consumer in mind.
