About Domaine des Ruaults
Located in the heart of the Saumur region, in the Loire Valley, Domaine des Ruaults is a 15-hectare family estate cultivating mainly Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc but also Chardonnay and Grolleau Noir (old grappefrom the Loire Valey) . The domaine was taken over ten years ago with a clear ambition: to produce wines of pleasure — sincere, generous, and approachable — made for everyday enjoyment as much as for special moments.
Rooted in a long-standing local tradition, the estate embraces modernity while respecting the natural balance of the vineyard. Certified HVE3 (High Environmental Value), we farm with care and reasoned practices, focusing on soil health, biodiversity, and vine resilience. We are not certified organic or natural, but we believe in transparency, precision, and authenticity in everything we do.
Our wines reflect their terroir with clarity and elegance, and we craft them with a light hand to preserve freshness and drinkability. Whether it’s a crisp Chenin or a juicy Cabernet Franc, our goal is always the same: to create wines that bring people together.
Our Wines
At Domaine des Ruaults, we craft a range of wines that reflect both the diversity of our terroir and the expression of our two emblematic grape varieties: Chenin Blanc and Cabernet Franc. We produce AOC wines typical of the Saumur appellation, as well as a few special cuvées that showcase the precision of our work in both the vineyard and the cellar.
Chenin Blanc
Saumur Blanc: a crisp, vibrant white wine marked by floral aromas, citrus notes, and a saline finish.
“La Bassaie”: a more complex cuvée, aged in oak barrels (4 months), with notes of ripe fruit, subtle toast, and a long mineral backbone.
Coteaux de Saumur (produced in the best vintages): a late-harvest Chenin with natural sweetness, balancing richness and freshness.
Cabernet Franc
Saumur Rouge: a fresh and fruity red wine, easy to drink, with bright red fruit and a supple texture.
Saumur Puy-Notre-Dame: a more structured expression of Cabernet Franc, sourced from limestone-rich soils and aged (9 months) in oak barrels, offering depth, finesse, and aging potential.
Sparkling Wines
Saumur Brut (Traditional Method): an elegant sparkling wine made from Chenin Blanc (blended with 10 % of Chardonnay), or from Cabernet Franc with fine bubbles, tension, and a dry finish.
Pétillant Naturel: a more playful and lightly sparkling wine (Pet’Nat) made in limited quantities, ideal for aperitifs and casual enjoyment.
