Sobre la bodega y los vinos

The I Dof Mati winery, which in the dialect of our area means ‘The two girls’, is an ambitious project born in 2016 from the courage and madness of two young friends. Animated by their passion for good wine and the rediscovery of agricultural land and its best traditions, they have given new life to an ancient vineyard and abandoned land in Ghemme and Sizzano, thanks to the cultivation of native vines of Alto Piemonte, such as Nebbiolo, Vespolina and Erbaluce.

Today the company is led by Sara Paladini and is based in a large historical winery in Fara Novarese, which can be visited to learn about winemaking methods, ageing in cement and wood, organise fully customised tastings for small or large groups, and even, for example during company team-building events, live the winemaker's experience for a day, participating in all the manual processes.

The winery of I Dof Mati is located in the centre of the village and in the inner garden of the charming Palazzo Dessilani is secretly hidden an exclusive vineyard designed by Alessandro Antonelli, one of the most important neoclassical architects of 19th century Italy.

The I Dof Mati winery currently has in production, 5 and a half hectares, 5 labels, each represented by a chess piece, because, in our opinion, chess and wine have much in common: a millenary wisdom, the ability to wait, respect and foresee the ‘next move’ of nature.

The Pawn is represented by the easy and pleasant Merlot ‘Tornato’, the Horse by the austere and elegant Colline Novaresi Nebbiolo DOC ‘Trama’, the Bishop by the fresh and decisive Colline Novaresi Bianco DOC ‘Eresia’, the Queen by the surprising and spicy Colline Novaresi Vespolina DOC ‘Bona’ and the King by the noble and solemn Ghemme DOCG ‘Il Matto’, an exceptional ambassador of the territory and perfectly suited also to great ageing.
