Bodegas Muñana est l'une des caves commerciales qui possède son propre vignoble à l'altitude la plus élevée d'Europe. Bodegas Muñana a une longue histoire et une longue tradition. Située au nord de Grenade (Espagne), la Bodegas Muñana maintient la tradition d'une terre où les Romains produisaient du vin il y a deux mille ans. Le terme Muñana dérive du mot arabo-espagnol "al munya", qui signifie "désir". Le village de Muñana était autrefois situé au cœur des vignobles actuels. Ses habitants, les "Moriscos", ont été expulsés en 1610 par le roi d'Espagne Felipe III. Le domaine Peñas Prietas couvre environ 180 hectares et s'élève à 1 200 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer

Our location, bordering the Sierra Nevada National Park and close to the Mediterranean sea creates very special climatic conditions, which allow the cultivation of a significant number of grape varieties, superior to other geographical areas. The high altitude and temperature range between night and day, the low incidence of pests, more sunny days and lower environmental humidity produce a slow and natural maturation, causing the plant to develop in better conditions than in other latitudes. The impediment of the terrain itself with steep slopes obliges us to make a direct selection in the vineyard that allows us to pick the bunches with optimum maturity and an impeccable sanitary condition. We do not use boxes of more than 15kg of capacity to avoid any process of mosteo and therefore of oxidation during the transport. Conserving 100% the virtues of our fruit.
