Manzwine’s values are quality, recuperation, and revitalization. All the history of past years, which conquered us and made us look at this place in a special way, led us to project onto the wines everything we were already doing, and everything we were learning.

Our concept is therefore close to a wine boutique, a premium quality product, delicate, careful, rich in aromas and velvety in flavor. Today we have 14 different labels, with a modern image, with the marks of the history that influences us. Manzwine is today a growing national brand in Portugal. Internationally, we are an example of what is best made here, exporting a good part of our production to more than 30 countries.

The recovery and revitalization of the history, traditions and customs of the region was, and still is, the cornerstone of our project. From the discovery of the rare grape variety Jampal and its recovery until today, it has been a long road. The recovery of the old wine press and the primary school are also examples of this journey.

What was once a forgotten, abandoned, undervalued grape variety that almost disappeared, today makes a wine that is unique in the world, with its own characteristics and with its qualities recognized by the greatest international specialists in the area.

In the early 2000s, when the first (last) strains of the Jampal grape were found in the middle of an abandoned vineyard, few people knew it and even fewer knew its correct name. A lengthy search led to its identification, involving specialists and specialized entities. Today, after more than a decade of a pioneer project that recovered this grape variety, we can affirm that those who have never tasted our Dona Fátima have never tasted the Jampal grape variety. A unique wine, for the true connoisseurs!

It didn’t take long for it to start reaching national and international critics. In 2011, Dona Fátima 100% Jampal was distinguished as one of the 50 Best Wines of Portugal, which catapulted the Jampal grape variety internationally. Since then, sommeliers and wine critics from all over the world have praised the elegance, character, and honesty of terroir, the quality of our Dona Fátima, and the courage of MANZWINE to recover Portuguese wine heritage that was on the verge of extinction.
