Su fundador, el bisabuelo José Montaño demostró siempre tener una habilidad especial para la elaboración de los vinos de una forma artesanal.
Las actividades tenían lugar en una pequeña industria situada en la localidad de Puebla de Sancho Pérez.
Un desgraciado accidente cambia el rumbo del destino y una nueva generación pasa a formar parte de la bodega: el abuelo Antonio Medina y la abuela Esperanza.
El negocio va avanzando favorablemente para la familia, siendo hacia 1.975 cuando se decide ampliar el negocio invirtiendo en una importante plantación de viñedos de la variedad Cabernet-Sauvignon y adquiriendo una bodega de crianza: BODEGA EL CONVENTO situada en la hermosa ciudad de Zafra.
El tesón y la laboriosidad de sus miembros, permiten que BODEGAS MEDINA se convierta así en una de las pocas bodegas extremeñas que desde entonces elaboran, envejecen y embotellan vinos de calidad.
Con el paso del tiempo, el legado pasa de los padres a los hijos hasta llegar a la actualidad en la que una cuarta generación controla la bodega dándole un impulso definitivo y mejorando de forma extraordinaria sus resultados.
Fruto de este auge es la construcción de una impresionante bodega: BODEGA LAS MONEDAS donde se aúnan el buen saber hacer de la familia con las tecnologías más modernas del sector vitivinícola para dar lugar a unos vinos de reconocido prestigio que se convierten en el Orgullo

Its founder, the great-grandfather José Montaño always demonstrated to have a special ability for the elaboration of traditional wines. The activities took place in a small factory located in Puebla de Sancho Pérez a small village of Extremadura Region. An unfortunate accident changed the course of the History and a new generation started to work in the winery, the grandparents Antonio Medina and Esperanza Montaño.The business is increasing favourably for the family, being towards 1975 when it is decided to extend the company investing in an important vineyards plantation of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety and acquiring a new cellar, BODEGA DEL CONVENTO, located in the wonderful town of Zafra. Its members tenacity and laboriousness allow BODEGAS MEDINA to become in one of the few wineries of Extremadura which since then elaborates, ages, and bottles high quality wines. In the course of time , the legacy goes from parents to children. Nowadays this incomparable legacy is led by the fourth generation of the Medina Family, controlling the winery and giving it a definitive impulse, improving its results in a extraordinary way. The result of this period of prosperity is the construction of an impressive winery, BODEGA LAS MONEDAS, where it is united the good work of the family and the most modern technologies in the viticulture sector in order to create prestigious wines which become in the PRIDE OF A LAND.
