Cantina e Vini

Great wines start in the vineyard so finding the right vineyards to plant on was critical. A decade ago we did just that by stumbling on a tiny abandoned vineyard in the Waipara Valley, the perfect site for our Pinot Noir and Riesling, Waipara Valley’s most renowned varieties. This was Tony’s second vineyard after 10 years in the horticultural industry and his daughter, Catherine’s, first. After a couple of vintages we decided to expand our range into other white wines, so the search for some land well suited to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris was on. In 2007 we finally found that site and commenced planting 25 hectares of vines. In 2010 Tony planted some Tempranillo there as well. Then in the middle of 2012 we bought an established vineyard – planted in Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir along with Merlot – a new variety for us. Once again another special site, on the Weka Creek riverbed.
