Parma history, food & wine experiene
Here is what you will live
Parma has been listed as UNESCO Capital of Food a few years ago. Why? Prosciutto..di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano, the most famous italian pasta making company based here, and we could keep on listing reasons for hours. However, one of the most interesting tours to do is an experience that puts together the food & wine heritage of the area, together with history and culture.
This is why with this itinerary departing from Parma you will first visit a prosciuttificio in Langhirano, the home of prosciutto companies. This is the place where, many years ago, you could find prosciuttos all over the balconies of the villages since it was the best way to dry them. Now the companies have had a great evolution and balcony of families are not necessary anymore, however the production and tasting of the real prosciutto di Parma is something magic. After the tour you'll also get the chance to taste the real prosciutto!
After the tour you'll go a local winery. This company synthesizes and delineates a human and business venture whose headway dates back to the recent 2013. It is the story of the happy joining of two families, the Cavallis and the Ceriolis: the first one boasting fifty years expertise in wine industry, and the second one embodied by Alex, a young entrepreneur deeply keen on pouring into the microcosm of wine all the expertise he has gained in several fields of agriculture together with his dynamic and innovative vision. The current synergy between these two souls naturally enriches such a conspicuous existing patrimony, and allows the company to face the stiff Food market, characterizing Italy as an absolute excellence. Oinoe srl company is located on Parma Hills, a well-known area all over the world for the production of two of the Italian gastronomy’s symbols, Parma Ham and Parmiggiano Reggiano (parmesan cheese). Our company overlooks Enza Valley, and our Guyout trained wineyards (40 Acres) include varieties of Malvasia, Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet and Lambrusco. Vines are arranged round the hill in harmony with the territory and they are grown according to Integrated Agricultural Principles, which allows us to produce exquisite and particularly cherished wines. Carefully selected bottles, labels and packaging too, convey such preciousness.
You'll have a tour and tasting, before going for lunch close to the oustanding Castello di Torrechiara.
Lunch is included in the tour and then you'll have the chance to visit the Castle. Built between 1448 and 1460 by Magnifico Pier Maria Rossi, it is one of the most important examples of Italian castle architecture. Its defensive structure is composed by three wall circles and four angular towers, it s residential function is explained by the rich presence of "grotesque" frescoes by Cesare Baglione.
The "Golden Room" is extraordinary, attributed to Benedetto Bembo, to celebrate the love story between Pier Maria and Bianca Pellegrini and the power of his lineage and the power of the family, through the depiction of all castles of the fief.
After the visit, you'll get back to Parma and end this special food, wine and historic tour!
