Self Winedering tour of Val D'Orcia

If you google "Tuscany Landscape", you'll probably find charming hills, beautiful roads and quaint villages. Most of the time you'll be looking at the Val D'Orcia wine destination! With this wine day tour of Val D'Orcia, we at Winedering are glad to offer you the opportunity to visit the 2 splendid villages of Montepulciano and Montalcino with a visit to 2 iconic different wineries.

The first stop will be at 10 am at Castello Tricerchi, an outstanding castle that extends over 400 hectares on the northern slopes of Montalcino. The Castle of the Tricerchi family, completed in 1441, dominates the property and is now the home and headquarters of the Tricerchis’ direct ancestors, the Squarcia family. With this experience you'll enjoy a tour of the castle and vineyards, a tasting of 4 wines (Brunello di Montalcino DOCG "AD 1441" 2016, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG 2016, Rosso d di Montalcino DOC, IGT Sangiovese ), water, bruschette with EVO oil.

After the tasting, you'll get back on the road to enjoy the incredible Val D'Orcia scenery before reaching Terra Antica in Montepulciano. It takes 45 minutes to reach the winery from Castello Tricerchi. You'll probably arrive around 1 pm, perfectly in time for the wine tasting and light lunch at this brand new winery!  You'll be tasting 5 wines (Bianco, Rosato, Rosso IGT, Rosso di Montepulciano, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano) and delicacies like olive oil, platters of cold cuts, cheese, honey, and jams, and a selection of local bread together with Sofia, a great friend of ous! Afterward, you'll be joining a guided tour of the winery, the barrel cellar, and the Sangiovese vineyards.

In the afternoon you have free time to visit Montepulciano or head back towards Pienza!

At the end of your day, you'll have tasted 9 glasses of wine, visited 2 wineries, and crossed one of the most beautiful roads in Italy.
