Torre dei BeatiLe uve, selezionate con raccolta scalare in cassette da venti chili, vengono immediatamente portate in cantina, situata presso il vecchio casale ristrutturato al centro della vigna e, prima della lavorazione, vengono sottoposte a ulteriore cernita sul tavolo di scelta, per selezionare solo il meglio. Tale procedimento viene applicato a tutte le uve da vinificare, allo scopo di esprimere al massimo, ogni vino in relazione alla propria tipologia, le potenzialità dei vitigni coltivati in questa zona tradizionalmente molto vocata. In cantina la tecnologia più avanzata e’ impiegata al servizio di vinificazioni tradizionali e rispettose della genuinità dell’uva di partenza. Le severe selezioni in vigna e in cantina permettono di vinificare soltanto uve perfettamente sane e di ottenere un vino di qualità con il minimo utilizzo di prodotti conservanti, in linea con l’etica del biologico, che va in tal modo a coincidere esattamente con l’etica della qualità.

Secure documentation dates back as early as 1791, testifying to the activities of our family, which have always focused on viticulture and agriculture. Fully eight generations of the family have engaged in winemaking activities on the estates in Vittorito and Corfinio, located in the heart of the Valle Peligna, the birthplace of the Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grape variety and the production centre, from the Roman era onwards, of noble and celebrated wines.

Cantine SpinelliOur roots are so deep, that it is hard to say since when we produce wine. For centuries, surely. Long ago in the past, we produced the wine for home consumption, a big house, with many generations and families that lived together. Today we produce 3 million and a half of bottles a year, but the love for the vine never changed. A real passion that has been cultivated and matured during generations and in the end brought to one result. It will be Vincenzo Spinelli the first one to face the challenge, in other words, the commercial enterprise: “We have the land and the vine: if we can make the good wine for us, why can’t we make it also for the others?”. In the beginning of the seventies the consumption still has a common character. It is sold in the wholesale, but for Vincenzo the quality is always in his mind. He will have to wait about ten years, when the sons Carlo and Adriano will work full time in the company to give a crucial impulse to his project. The production capacity increases and, with great care, they start to control all the production stages, starting from the selection of the grapes, to the vinification and to the bottling. The quality is, now, the rallying cry. Therefore, the commercial strategies change and are refined, and so is the development of the sales network. In the past century, the last big leap happens with an expansion of the company in 1992, that represents the crowning achievement of a work. With the new and wide production rooms and with advanced machines and equipment, Vincenzo Spinelli finally completes the project, for which he spent a life for: a company able to combine high quality with high production volume.

Ciavolich Azienda AgricolaThere are 22 hectares of vineyard, 500 olive trees called Dritta and 14 hectares of cereals which we rotate from year to year. The vineyards: 10 hectares are grown using the ancient and traditional system called Pergola or Tendone and planted between 1965 and 1990. 12 hectares are grown on trellises and are the most recent vines, planted between 2004 and 2011. The soil is calcareous clay. There is also a small cellar in Loreto which has been transformed into a small Agriturismo (farm guesthouse) with 4 guest rooms.

AT THE END OF THE XIX CENTURY, WHEN THE YOUNG GIOVANNI BOSCO BEGAN TO CULTIVATE VINES, THE CITY OF CASTELLAMARE ADRIATICA (THAT BECAME PESCARA IN 1926) HAS NO MORE THAN 15.000 INHABITANTS AND EXTENDED ON A NARROW LAND. ALL AROUND WAS THE LANDSCAPE AND THE “LOVERS HILL” OF PESCARA WERE A FERTILE GROUND FOR VINES: STRONG AND TENACIOUS AS THE VINE, GIOVANNI FINALLY OBTAINED A WONDERFUL RED WINE WITH AN INTENSIVE BOUQUET AND A SPICY TASTE, THAT, ONCE NAMED MONTEPULCIANO D’ABRUZZO, WOULD HAVE BEEN KNOWN ALL OVER THE WORLD IN THE FOLLOWING CENTURY. IT WAS 1897 AND BOSCO WINERY WAS BORN.

Vini La Quercia - Società Agricola, Azienda AgricolaThe farm is run by four friends who became colleagues by chance in the late 80s. Elisabetta started her career in the administration department of a big winery where Antonio and Luca were already engaged as, respectively, oenologist and sales manager. A few years later Fabio was hired as cellar man in the same company. They worked together until 2000, when they decided to take the big step and took over a small winery called La Quercia, with whose owner they had already cooperated as consultants. La Quercia is a small winery stretching for about 12 hectares in vineyards and 3 in olive tree groves. It also has oenological plants for 400 square meters, with a productive capacity of around 4000 hl of wine. The activity of the company is eager to respect nature and environment in order to attain good and healthy products. During cultivation and processing, treatments are decreased to the minimum in order to let you find a reflection of the place of origin and its peculiarities in your glass. Cultivation and processing are based on high quality and the small details able to give relevance to the vine variety, the land where it grew up and the atmospheric phenomena that characterised the year. Quercia means Oak tree which beyond being a beautiful and majestic tree is also a symbol for its strength and genuineness. It took a little sacrifice to the four partners to set in such a crowded and keen market, but in the end constant work and commitment paid back: the first awards came as soon as they presented their first production at the most important Italian wine fair, Vinitaly, then La Quercia started to have its wines and oil listed in the main food & beverage guides and in the best Italian restaurants and shops menu. From 2005 La Quercia hit the international market: USA, middle and northern Europe, Japan, China and lately Canada (not to speak of a very challenging project about a chain of restaurants branded “La Quercia”).

Over more than 50 years of activity, we have constantly developed our skills and professionalism, paying great attention to the changes in our sector and in the consumers’ taste. We aim to continuously improve our products, pursuing a strong and competitive presence on the market. Our company currently consists of about 670 partners who grow vines in 15 different municipalities, with an overall area of about 1,600 hectares that produce an average of 25.000 tons of grapes. These are the wonderful vineyards that cover the territory of Frisa; after being processed with skilfulness and devotion, they produce the great wines of this land.

Chiusa GrandeThe farm was founded in 1994 by Franco D’Eusanio, a graduate in Agricultural Sciences and winery consultant with years of experience. He is a staunch advocate of the “organic philosophy”, as a: “vino-sopher” and “bio-innovator”. This encapsulates his love for nature driven by ethical causes, towards rediscovering the tradition and balance of the ecosystem. “You can’t decide to make the switch to organic farming purely on the grounds of market positioning; it must be underpinned by a strong conviction and lifestyle that is consistent with this choice. We must realise that farming with an excessive use of chemicals will lead us down a dead end. I believe that we can make a good wine without being slaves to profit, with a concern for the mental and physical well-being of those who drink it”.

Azienda Agricola AusoniaThe farm Ausonia is located in Atri and consists of 12 hectares of vineyard and about 400 olive trees. The whole company, consisting of a single body, is located at 270 s.l.m protected to the West by the Gran Sasso and exposed to the East, to the positive effects of the Adriatic Sea. The farm applies a grape-growing attention to eco-sustainability, and in the course of 2013 has started the process of organic certification. The farm is surrounded by vineyards, and is equipped with the most modern technology for the vinification of the grapes, to the aging and storage of wine, remaining firmly convinced that a great wine requires grapes of the highest quality and a great human commitment. The production of the wines come exclusively from grapes of the property, being the only way to have a tight control on the quality of the grapes.
