Here Tenuta San Guido started producing its famous Sassicaia wine, basing its techniques on the French winemaking culture and adopting both the methods and the vines used in France. Sassicaia wine was recognized in 1978, and soon later started obtaining international fame and recognition when compared to the Grand Crus of Bordeaux, very esteemed at that time.
