More information on Molise

Molise is a small region located towards the south of Italy, between Abruzzo, Apulia and Campania. The wild and mountainous territory of Molise, mostly still untouched by mass tourism, offers nature, art, history, rich traditional cuisine, and, of course, a few special wineries you can visit.

During your winery visits in Molise, you will learn how the region is still looking for its own identity when it comes to wine, as Molise was still administratively connected to Abruzzo until fifty years ago. Two main wine areas can be identified in Molise: the larger one stretches along the valleys of Trigno and Biferno, while the second area is instead located in the hinterland, surrounding the town of Isernia. Overall, 4 DOC and 2 IGT wines are produced in Molise.

Other common black grape varieties found in the region include Montepulciano and Aglianico, while common white varieties are Falanghina, Trebbiano, Greco, Piombino Bianco and Malvasia Bianca.
