Uleybury lies North – East of Adelaide, South Australia, within the Mount Lofty Ranges . It is a picturesque area and to add to it’s poetic beauty it also fast becoming a new wine growing area. It was here where Tony Pipicella and family first planted vines in 1995. Then in July 2000 Uleybury Wines released their 1999 Hand Picked Basket Press Uley Chapel Shiraz, 1999 Hand Picked Basket Press Grenache Shiraz and 2000 Hand Picked Semillon. The response and success of the first three labels and now their continued vintage releases, along with several other new releases has proved that Uleybury “has the elements necessary to produce quality wine”, Winestate Magazine Nov/Dec 2000. At Uleybury every vine is hand pruned to control yield level to maximise quality. It is the continuing commitment to excellence in the vineyard that is the first step in making our award winning wines. Uleybury Wines are made to reflect soil, climate, variety and season, which is a rare occurrence in an industry which is becoming dominated by large corporations that produce wines according to specifications.

St Hugo WinesThe famous Barossa wine region has a long history of making full-bodied reds, fortified and robust white wines. As well as its 70+ wineries, the Barossa is home to award-winning restaurants, stone churches and heritage buildings, in a uniquely Australian landscape of gum trees and vineyards. The newly built Home of St Hugo honours the visionary leader; Hugo Gramp who successfully built Gramp & Sons winery into an industry pillar, inspiring progress across future generations of the Gramp family. Located within the ruins of William Jacob’s winery, built over 150 years ago. The additions to the site have been built and designed sympathetically to tie in with the old ruins. The site comprises of the St Hugo Tasting Room and St Hugo Restaurant.

Padthaway EstatePadthaway Estate incorporates a winery and homestead which is set in the middle of 120 acres of manicured vineyard in the pristine Padthaway Wine Region on the Limestone Coast of South Australia. The region is renowned for its consistency and quality of produce from the sort after winegrapes to livestock and vegetables to fisheries. The area stretches from the lucerne growing regions in the north west to the majestic coast line in the south to the lush border regions with Victoria. Padthaway is easily accessible by road with the town of Naracoorte a short drive away plus an airstrip alongside the estate allows access for the more adventurous. From a visit to cellar door, a weekend stay or a wedding in the majestic gardens Padthaway Estate will engross you with its history, presence and attention to quality and detail.

Howard VineyardIn 1890, Amos William Howard discovered subterranean clover thriving naturally in a picturesque valley in the Adelaide Hills. Howard Vineyard’s stone barn Cellar Door and premium red vineyard are located in Nairne, on the site of this original farm. Subterranean clover continues to grow at this site, restoring Nitrogen and ensuring the health and quality of the soil in this spectacular vineyard. 30km away, our high altitude (470m), cool climate white vineyard at Schoenthal (“Beautiful Valley” in German) is one of the Adelaide Hill’s finest sites for growing fresh, crisp Sparkling and white wines. We believe these two unique vineyard sites enable us to grow exceptional white and red grapes without compromise, and our Estate grown Picnic, Clover and Amos wines are renowned for their delicate notes and distinctive fruit purity.

Elderton Wines - BarossaAfter time spent working in Saudi Arabia, Neil and Lorraine Ashmead, moved to the Barossa in 1979, after Lorraine’s father identified a beautiful home with potential. The Ashmeads believed this would be a great place to raise their family. The homestead, in the heart of the township of Nuriootpa, was surrounded by extremely old Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon vines. At a time where demand for Australian table wine was negligible, the vineyard had become derelict. After years of no interest, the real estate agent eventually offered the Ashmeads the 72 acre vineyard as a bonus, as part of the sale of the homestead. Three years later, after restoring the vineyard, Elderton Wines was born. The second generation, Cameron and Allister, took the reins of the business in 2003 and today work together to run Elderton Wines, with Lorraine still involved through her role on the Board. Cameron and Allister believe very strongly in continuing the traditions that began a generation earlier, on the Nuriootpa vineyard. Wanting to take the family company to the next level, they together devised a plan to buy great vineyards in other significant sub appellations of the Barossa. Through using sustainable practices, the hope is that the next generation of the Ashmead family have a lot to work with when they are at the helm. Cameron and Julie have three sons, and Allister and Rebecca have three daughters.

Henry's Drive VigneronsOur Story Named after the proprietor of the 19th century mail coach service that once ran through their property, Henry’s Drive Vignerons is the wine operation established by Kim Longbottom and her late husband Mark. During the nineteenth century establishment of the farming and wine industries of south eastern South Australia, only horse drawn coaches provided the transit of mail and passengers. The coach drivers reigned supreme on top of their coaches and won the respect and admiration of their passengers. The coach service proprietor in this part of the state was a certain Henry John Hill. His operation drove directly through a property, owned more recently by the Longbottom family. Today, Kim continues to build the business in honour of Mark; with fine winemaking and brands such as Henry’s Drive, The Postmistress, The Scarlet Letter and Pillar Box. These wines are testament to Kim and Mark’s dedication to crafting fine wines from Padthaway, one of Australia’s great wine growing regions.

Kersbrook Hill WinesThe first plantings were undertaken in a small 0.4 hectare vineyard site which now supplies the premium Shiraz “Dons Acre”. This initial planting was undertaken to test the suitability of the site, and encouraged by the results, 2 years later more land was purchased from the adjacent property and the main “Stags Leap” vineyard was established. This larger vineyard had 3 hectares planted to Shiraz and 1 hectare planted to Riesling. Considerable care was taken in laying out the vineyard to take advantage of the afternoon sun, particularly during the slightly cooler ripening period found in late March and early April. The Western aspect of the site has proven to be ideal for producing fruit of the highest standard. Attention was also paid to the existing native vegetation, with the vineyard being constructed in such a way as to avoid disturbing the existing native habitat. The huge gum tree right in the middle of the Stag’s Leap Vineyard is an arresting feature and thought to be hundreds of years old. It features in a lot of our promo pictures and is an idyllic place for a BBQ and a nice Shiraz during Spring.

Penfolds Magill Estate Cellar DoorThe Adelaide Hills region is known for its elegant cool climate wines. Located in the Mount Lofty Ranges 20 minutes east of Adelaide, the region is Australia’s largest geographical wine region, and one of the most diverse in terms of climate, soil and topography. This historic and heritage-protected vineyard was established in 1844 by Dr Christopher Rawson and Mary Penfold. First planted with Grenache from cuttings taken from the South of France it would go on to inspire and supply fruit for Penfolds Grange. The wines were initially prescribed as tonics for anaemic patients and the famous Penfolds slogan ‘1844 to evermore’ harks back to its origins.
