The ‘Cà Montebello’ Agricultural Estate stretches across the lower hills with its flourishing vineyards on an imposing land-scape in the province of Pavia. The area of “Montebello” mentioned on antique maps, showed the origin of a feud belonging to the Arnaboldi domain, as one of the most valuable areas for the cultivation of vineyards. After which the Scarani family vine growers for generations, consolidated the wine tradition that guaranteed the continuity of quality and excellence of its wines, appreciated by generations of connoisseurs. “A family company”, in the true sense of the word, an indissoluble combination that characterises work which is always linked to the charisma and the personality of people who work respecting both nature and the territory. At Cà Montebello along side the owner Luigi Scarani, a skilful, extrovert and “true wine Maestro”, collaborate, his wife Ines, his son Alberto responsible for commercial relationships with the world market and Cristina extremely bright and creative in the “oenology art”. The natural vocation of calcareous-clayeyland, favourably exposed by the eastern and western sunrays, together with the constantand passionate dedication of which the vinesare cultivated, with absolute respect for the environment, healthy and natural ripeningof the grapes result, the rewards for thelabour of a year’s work and the ‘beginning’ of a new challenge in searching for quality and perfection. The wine tastings and the visits to the cellarhave become strength of Cà Montebello; visitors remain fascinated by the environment, a place where time seems to have stood still, allowing themselves to be seduced by the extraordinary hospitality of the owners and the captivating taste of wines that balance perfectly with the taste of traditions.

The Monsupello Farm finds its roots more than a century ago, in 1893, when the Boatti family looks after its own vineyards in Cà del Tava, within in the municipality of Oliva Gessi. In 1914, the Boatti buy another fund called "Podere La Borla" which is nearby, in the municipality of Torricella Verzate. Which is where the cellar gets built, the same one that now has been upgraded and modernized in order to maximise the vinification of grapes produced from the original estates and the ones that have been achieved throughout the years. In 1959, Carlo Boatti, gives the company a further development by acquiring new lands in the municipalities of Casteggio, Redavalle and Pietra de’ Giorgi, re-defining the whole structure with the introduction of new grape varieties as well as wine cellar new structures and also fulfils a modern wine production, bottling and storage systems. Nowadays Monsupello is run by the heirs of Carlo, his wife Carla and sons Pierangelo and Laura Boatti, along with a trained technical staff in the vineyard and winery co-ordinated by the oenologist Marco Bertelegni. The 50 hectares of vineyards, cultivated in order to get low yields of grapes per hectare, along with the manual harvest using exclusively boxes and the yields grapes/wines being less than 55%, are the commitments that we impose to ourselves in order to present structured and harmonious wines that can give emotions of the consumer. As a Company we are constantly evolving according to current market needs and we are firmly determined to continue the journey begun by Carletto, based on qualitative objectives that led throughout the years to the top of Italian enology indeed, with numerous awards by various guides.

The origins of Tenuta Il Bosco at Zenevredo, in the Oltrepò Pavese zone, date back to the Middle Ages, when Benedictine monks restored life to the land here – following a long period of abandonment – by cultivating vines once again. Vines have been grown in the Oltrepò Pavese for a very long time indeed and the first written documents referring to them date back to Pliny and to Strabo who, 40 years before Christ, passing through the area with a Roman legion, wrote about the “good wine, hospitable population and very large wooden barrels”. It was in this zone - also known as “Old Piedmont”- that sparkling wines were first produced in Italy at the end of the 19th century, thanks to the presence of Pinot Noir grapes, an outstanding variety that is particularly suited to being vinified as a white wine and which can yield aristocratic sparkling wines when produced using the Classic Method (with the second fermentation taking place in the bottle). When the property was purchased in 1987 by the Zonin family, there were only 30 hectares of vines. “Year after year we have increased the area under vine. Planting new vineyards is an exciting experience: it is the result of detailed evaluation of the soil and the site, and of research regarding new clonal selections and new training systems. It is also the start of a new cycle, because it means thinking about the particular wine and its special fragrances and flavours that will derive from the new vines” states the estate’s agronomist, Aurelio Lunghini. Today, following years of investments by the Zonin family in the area, the estate comprises 152 hectares of vineyards under family ownership.

There are moments without words that only sensations can define, feelings that reach the heart and become the rapture, joy and beauty of a moment to be treasured deep inside. The art of wine is one such moment, a masterpiece created by the talent that few possess, in which dedication and ability blend in a magical, mystical marriage with nature. The infinite in a single drop, fruit of a slow, devoted and meticulous passion. People, like territories, have a vocation. And so it was that a fifteen-year-old boy had a lightning intuition of what life could be like pursuing it. The meeting between young Maurizio Zanella and gentle Franciacorta, when his mother moved to Erbusco and planted the first vineyard, was the initial contact with what would be the love of his life. But it was after a trip to Champagne, to the famous maisons whose wine had always fascinated and inspired him, that Maurizio returned with the unshakable idea of making something similar. What was once a house in a chestnut wood became one of the most trailblazing wineries in Italy. Since then a single principle has been defining the essence of Ca’ del Bosco: the quest for excellence.

In the heart of Franciacorta, in Camignone, lies the historic villa with its 16th-century wine cellars and surrounding properties that offers eloquent testimony to the venerable winemaking patrimony that the Barboglio family inherited in 1836. This viticultural wealth was developed still further through the far-sighted efforts of Emanuela Barboglio, who planted the first modern, specialised vineyards and in 1968 was one of the first to produce DOC Franciacorta wine. In 1976 the name of the winery was changed from Azienda Agricola Barzanò Barboglio to the current "il Mosnel," a local dialect word, of Celtic origin, that means "heap of stones," an apt characterisation for the site of the winery. Directing Mosnel today is the fifth generation of winegrowers, the children of Emanuela Barboglio. Giulio Barzanò oversees production and sales, while Lucia Barzanò directs marketing, external relations, and administration. The family is fortunate to enjoy the support of a highly professional staff, expert agronomists, and experienced winemaking technicians, all of whom exercise painstaking attention to the production process and to the winery's growth.

The Az Ag La Prendina wine production is quite recent. It began in 1958 with the purchase of the vineyards. After extensive re-working we planted new vineyards based on our experience at Cavalchina. The existence of La Prendina as a farm goes back many years. Maps and documents of the Gonzaga period indicate the existence of the La Prendina estate. Also the evidence of the buildings such as the tower and dovecote suggests a much older existence. Initially wines were sold under the Cavalchina name. The first wine to use the La Prendina name was a Merlot bottled in 1980 for the celebrated chef Gualtiero Marchesi. The Merlot remains the wine that best expresses the character of La Prendina. By 1990 all La Prendina’s wines were sold under its own brand and started to be recognised in tastings and guides for its Bordeaux style, particularly with Vigneto del Falcone.

The roots that tie the Majolini Family to its land are deep and start from far away – Ezio Maiolini explains – We must go back to the XVth century, when our family arrives in Ome, establishing itself. The tie with viticulture is born almost immediately and already our last name, borrowed right from an autoctonous grape variety, the one of Majolina, is the witness of this adventure. The tie with our land has brought us great satisfactions! Especially to our father Valentino from whom we have inherited the passion and the love from wine production. It is him who decided, around the end of the 60’s, to renovate the old family winery and to start the cultivation of Ruc di Gnoc, a magnificent high hilled vineyard that still today produces the same named wine. No wonder, then, if me and my brothers have enforced our roots, developing even more the project started by our father. The definitive turnaround took place with the acquisition, at the beginning of the 90’s, of the wonderful area called Campèi. In 1995 the buildings of the new winery started, a reality of 4.000 covered meters, situated in a dominant uncomparable valley. Telling about the development of a winery means giving a great importance to research. The ones who produce a wine of excellence, cannot and do not want to think of development in terms of number, but in terms of quality. From 1981 to today our main goal has been to increment the potential of our vineyards, protect and increment the value of the territory, and optimize the productive procedures in the strict respect of the wine tradition.

First of all, it is the two of us who take care directly of Martilde and we were not born here or turned up by chance, but we choose the place and the life that goes with it. Perhaps, as it aften happens, not fully aware of what we were in for (that came with time), but with all of our resolution and economical, physical and mental resources. We do not come from this area and have both spent enough years moving around not to feel bound or homesick about a particular place. For Martilde, we both left a Milan job in a completely different branch, discovering the world of vines and wines. Our intial inexperience made us sitting ducks for a crowd of bad counsellors but, paying dearly, we tried to learn fast, conscious that a radical change of life requires courage and some upsetting experiences. Now, enough time has passed to make us feel we like we have been here forever, Rovescala has become our homeplace, Martilde is joined with our life and the surrounding landscape is the one we see daily, recognize from afar and miss when away too long.

The cellars are surrounded by beautiful countryside, steeped in history, next to a sixteenth century church, Saint Michael the Archangel, in a tiny village in the hills overlooking Montalto Castle and the medieval fortress. The road stops here, at an altitude of roughly 380 meters, and makes way for an ancient country path. With woods, thickets and vineyards as far as the eye can see, busy towns and traffic notable for their absence, we enjoy a healthy climate, clean fresh air and a breathtaking landscape. The Anteo winery Our winery is located here and it's named after a figure of classic mythology: Anteo the giant, son of Gaea (the Earth). Anteo fought and soundly defeated all challengers. His strength came from his mother, who filled him with vital energy at every touch. This inspired our father to name the company "Anteo". It receives its energy from its own land: 30 hectares of vineyards located in one of the top Pinot Noir growing areas of the Oltrepò Pavese region.

The philosophy that has always accompanied Tiziano’s visions is oriented towards the creation of an innovative, unique, niche product. The location of the vineyards is considerably facilitated: the southern exposure and the presence of a predominantly clay-moraine substrate affect the organoleptic characteristics of the wine, therefore bestowing it a particular structure, while the presence of acacia trees at the edge of the vineyards infuses the particular scent and sweet taste characteristic of their bloom. Brutell winery is divided into three rooms, connected to each other. In the widest area there are stainless steel casks having various capacities, the wine press and barriques for fermentation and aging, selected with the utmost care among the finest French wood and the best possible features to enhance one of the most important and interesting relation with wine. Just after that, there is the area for winemaking, bottling, tirage, disgorging and labelling. Finally, at controlled temperature and humidity and kept in the dark, the large room that contains the pupitres and the bottles of our wines, strictly stored divided according to varieties and vintages.

Ours is a small estate in the Franciacorta district, in one of Italy's finest wine-growing areas. Enrico Gatti bought his first piece of land in 1975 and planted a vineyard of red grapes, from which he started making small quantities of wine. In 1984, Enrico's passion for wine-making became a family affair; his children, Lorenzo and Paola, together with her husband, Enzo, joined the business. The new drive they brought to the enterprise made it possible to achieve the dream of producing a sparkling wine, and the first Franciacorta was made in the 1986 vintage. The estate gradually grew and expanded, as they purchased new land, planted new vineyards and expanded the cellar itself. Combining their individual sensibilities and the wine-making experience they had acquired, Lorenzo and Enzo evolved a shared vision of wine and drew up a clear business ethic, based on reinforcing the traditional characteristics of the local wines and promoting the Franciacorta district.

The more contemporary history of this winery develops around Capriolo, an evocative medieval borough where, in the 1970s, Giancarlo Lantieri was one of the first – with oenologist Cesare Ferrari – to make his first steps in the production of sparkling wines, now recognised and acclaimed as Franciacorta D.O.C.G. The Lantieri company nowadays produces about 160,000 bottles a year, of which 120,000 are Franciacorta D.O.C.G. and the rest are Curtefranca, cultivated in vineyards covering 20 hectares, all tended directly by the company and situated in the districts of Capriolo and Adro, in the lush green area known as Colzano, protected by the hills surrounding the Winery. The clayey silicic nature and lime content of the soil make this land particularly suitable for wine growing and Chardonnay in particular. Centuries-old traditions, combined with today’s modern wine-making processes, have contributed to a complete series of Franciacorta DOCG and DOC wines acclaimed for their fineness and strength, elegance and taste. LANTIERI DOCG wines rest on yeasts for a period that varies from 24 months for the fresh and pleasant Brut and Extra Brut, to 30 for the delicate and widely versatile Satèn, and the Rosè fermented with Pinot Nero grapes which give it the unmistakeable pink colouring. 42 months, instead, are required for the Millesimato Arcadia, the top of production, distinguished by its structure and complexity, its fullness and intense spicy notes. In 2001, an existing barn was modernised and turned into what is now the Corte Lantieri agritourism structure. Agriturismo Corte Lantieri.
