About Winery and Wines
Abbazia di Crapolla, once a medieval Benedictine grange, now thrives as a vineyard with a storied past dating back to the 12th century. The vineyard was revitalised in 2007 by Fulvio Alifano and Giuseppe Puttini, who are both passionate about preserving its heritage while embracing innovation. The wines produced, including the acclaimed
Sireo, which was awarded at Les Mondial des Vins Extrêmes 2023 by Wine Spectator and also considered among the best white wines of Campania by Falstaff Magazine, reflects our commitment to quality and tradition.
Sireo, Fiano - Falanghina (White wine) – Abbazia di Crapolla's most famous and awarded wine.
Aromas: white-fleshed fruit, flowers, citrus peel, light minerality — reminiscent of Mediterranean scrub.
Palate: fresh, savory, with good acidity and balance; medium-long finish with citrus and herbal notes.
Food pairings: fresh cheeses, appetizers, fish, white meat, grilled vegetables, seafood dishes.
Poizzo, Fiano - Falanghina - Moscato (White wine)
Another white wine based on Falanghina and Fiano, but with an addition of Moscato that makes it more aromatic and lively.
Character: fresh, savory, with fruity notes of pear, white flowers, and pleasant minerality; its aroma is slightly more playful compared to Sireo.
Vineyard details: sandy soil with lapilli
Sabato (Red wine)
Sabato is one of the estate’s red wines, produced from a blend that includes Pinot Noir, Montepulciano, and the local grape “Sabato”.
Appearance & taste: in its youth, it shows an intense ruby color; with age, it tends toward garnet. On the palate, it is rich yet fresh, with elegant tannins.
Food pairings: rustic, home-style dishes – warm soups, legumes, vegetable stews. Also excellent with meat and hearty sauces.
