About Winery and Wines
For 25 years, this Tuscan paradise has been producing natural wine and olive oil, both certified organic. Long before that, however, it was the land of the ancient Etruscans, great winemakers who let nature take the lead. At Atavica we respect the old-school traditions of the original inhabitants of this land by practicing low-intervention farming.
The farm is owned by four friends (2 Italians) who met in Ireland, moved to Italy, and found our hearts in Maremma. With the help of Vasile, the man who can fix anything, and a few incredibly knowledgeable people along the way, we've been learning the ropes since we bought the place in early 2024.
Our shared passion for low-intervention wines and tasty olive oil led us here, and we hope it'll lead you to us as well!

We make wines without the use of added sulfites, using a touch only for our aged wines (highest is just under 30mg/liter- most conventional wines average 100-150mg/liter). Allowing wine to "do it's thing" means that for every vintage, the bottle becomes an expression of the unique season that produced it.
There are 3 lines in our collection, so there's a range that suits every palate. For lovers of bold Tuscan wines, there's our Classic Line. For those who want to try something unique, we have our Fresh & Fun line. And if you want to try something you probably won't find anywhere else, we have our Ancient Grapes collection that includes Pugnitello and Foglia Tonda, two native grapes indigenous to this area. They were (and still are) too difficult to cultivate so they disappeared for decades until they were rediscovered and replanted. There are only 35 hectares of Pugnitello in the world and we have the honour to own 1 of them.
