Their tasting menu is the perfect size - it's not small, but it's not so big you get lost either. Very few wineries give the chambourcin grape the accolades it deserves, but this is without a doubt one of them. Between this, their port, and their 100% cabernet franc, this place really does go where most wineries don't dare to venture.
Phenomenal, a job well done.

This is a very lovely place and the wine is pretty good. The folks that work there are very nice and they really know their wine. They also have an adorable little Yorkie that greets all of the guests.

The people are absolutely lovely here. They most definitely know their wine here. My boyfriend and I went there this last summer ('11) and were amazed at how sweet everyone was. The wine is as good as the company also. My recommendation: don't leave without buying one of their very interestingly shaped wine bottles! They are keepers!

Sobre la bodega y los vinos

Favorite daughter of the Greek God, Zeus, Pallas Athena or simply, Pallas is known as the goddess of wisdom. Because of this gift she was charged with overseeing practical arts which included agriculture and winemaking. On the hill of the Acropolis, the Athenians built a temple to Pallas – the Parthenon. Athena Vineyards was established in 2002 by three Nurses. We enjoy healthy lifestyles, working in the vineyard and the finer things in life. Our interest in winemaking led to the construction of our winery in 2005. Athena has become the first commercial vineyard and winery in Northumberland County, Virginia. Visit our tasting room and share our warm hospitality in a beautiful vineyard setting. Our vineyards overlook the Great Wicomico River with 15 acres of over a 20 varieties of grapes. Not far from the Chesapeake Bay, we embrace the lifestyle of the area - crabs, rockfish and oysters are common in the region.
