Great experience

10/1/23
After a visit to the cellar, we tested 7 different wines, Gaia explained each type in great detail. We also had food while we drank
The weather was very nice, so we had the tasting terrace overlooking the vineyards.
In the end we purchased 3 different wines, although it was very difficult to select them.

About Winery and Wines

Since 1950, Cascina Torniero farm, owned by the Migliasso brothers, has been a symbol of top-notch quality and variety. Their methods prioritize the environment and the healthiness of the wine, using organic fertilization, minimal sulphite usage, and avoiding animal-based components in the cellar. This family has always been at the forefront of innovation. During the '70s, founder Giuseppe pioneered the vinification of Arneis, Barbera, and Nebbiolo, later expanding to produce other exceptional red wines, including the renowned "Castellinaldo" Barbera d'Alba. The label has been refreshed and updated by the talented Pierangelo Maccagno, embracing the latest technologies.

The landscape of Roero is a captivating sight, with rolling hills that extend from the picturesque "Rocche" area to the banks of the Tanaro River. Amidst this beauty, you'll find outstanding castles and stunning vineyards. The scenery transitions seamlessly from the rugged allure of the "Rocche" to well-arranged vineyards, forests, and orchards. The twenty-three hectares of vineyards owned by the winery, along with seven hectares of orchards that grow peaches, apricots, and plums, are located on the border between Castellinaldo d'Alba and Canale. From the Madonna dei Cavalli church, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the hills, plains, and castles that define the winegrowing landscapes of Roero, Langhe, and Monferrato. In 2014, these landscapes were rightfully recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for their exceptional preservation of historical vine cultivation, winemaking traditions, rural communities, and the wine-centric economy. Adding to the spectacle is the grand Alpine arch that encompasses Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, and Lombardy. For years, we have devoted ourselves to caring for our land, using organic fertilizers like green manure.
