About Winery and Wines

"We are one of the youngest wineries in the Aosta Valley, but we have solid and ancient roots " For almost 400 years, a chestnut had grown in a courtyard, becoming larger and large. This is why this farmhouse had always been known as Pianta Grossa, Large Plant. In the wines of Pianta Grossa the stature and strength of that old horse chestnut are reflected.

The wine-growing activity of the family has been alive for three generations. The cultivation of the vine takes place over an area of about 2 hectares with an Aosta Valley pergola system. The vineyards are located on steeply sloping terraces in the municipalities of Donnas and Pont-Saint-Martin (around 400/500 meters above sea level). The soil of morainic origin is sandy and rich in organic matter. The sand gives finesse and fragrance to the wines while the organic substance ensures an adequate moisture content in the soil, the necessary nutrients and a balanced biological life: necessary conditions for obtaining healthy and well-ripe grapes!
