About Winery and Wines

At the beginning of the sixties, in the heart of Sicily, in a land that expresses richness, scents and traditions, was born the Bagliesi Organic Farm, natural evolution of a family tradition. Now in its third generation, today it is interpreted in an innovative way by the owner Vito Bagliesi and his family. Extended for twenty-five hectares, in the province of Agrigento, of which twenty located in c/da Cammuto territory of Naro and five located in contrada Giangaragano territory of Ravanusa, it expresses great fertility through vineyards of mixed varieties. The latter, raised in espalier, are the result of an accurate and strict Organic Farming, characterized by a meticulous process of workmanship ranging from thinning to hand picking of grapes, with the precise goal of transmitting to our wines those unmistakable characteristics which are the peculiarity of vines planted in Sicily. Vines that characterize our vineyards are: Nero D'Avola, Grillo and Catarratto, among the autochthonous ones, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, among the international ones. The winery which dominates our lands ensures, with a state of the art technological system, the control of production processes during the vinification phases.

The history of Azienda Bagliesi and of its wines are inseparable from this territory, the hills of central-southern Sicily, first inhabited by Greeks, then by Romans, Saracens and Byzantines, it has always been considered one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of vine and in particular of Nero D'Avola, of which this area with its Mediterranean climate, expresses the absolute excellence. The land, purely calcareous-clay, about 15 km from the sea and the Valley of the Temples have an altitude of about 360 meters above sea level.
