The best wine around! They make the wine using traditional ways which not only keeps chemicals out of it but also taste way better! As a added bonus, you will always be treat like family and you can do there free wine tasting (about 12 different wines). There food is excellent too!

This place is FANTASTIC. My boyfriend and I flew into Colorado during Winter Storm Kayla. Most of the outdoor activities were out of the question. We were looking for wineries, and Balistreri had the highest ratings. After our visit, I can certainly see why! This family-owned winery is beautiful! Originally a greenhouse, the winery had beautiful flower arrangements through out the tasting room. The winemakers granddaughter led us through their complimentary tasting. She was very friendly and informative. The wines were so pure and tasty. The winemaker's daughter took us on a tour of the winery. Everything they do is natural...no added sulfites, no added anything! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Great wine tasting experience. We were able to take a tour of the cellar and see their wine making process. It was a wonderful time. All of the staff was incredibly friendly. I especially enjoyed tasting the wines back to back by location (Colorado vs Lodi, CA). That was a new and unique experience to taste the same grape and same wine made in the same method by the same winemaker and having geography as the only difference. We will definitely be back next time we are in Colorado.

About Winery and Wines

ohn Balistreri’s family immigrated from Sicily to the United States in the early 1900s. They eventually found their way to Colorado, where they worked as “truck farmers” producing local vegetables in the North Denver community. In 1964, John Balistreri built greenhouses and started his own business growing carnations. During this time, John continued the Sicilian tradition of producing wine for family and friends. Although wine making had always been a family tradition, it wasn’t until 1998 with the efforts of John’s daughter Julie and wife Birdie that the operation became a commercial endeavor. They built a modest tasting room to showcase their authentic and natural style of wine making.

John Balistreri’s wines are made naturally in a very approachable, easy drinking style. Only grapes that are hand-harvested are used to make the wine. All of which are selected from high quality single vineyard sites across Colorado and occasionally California. The grapes are then carefully crushed in the winery and allowed to ferment using indigenous yeasts. This preserves the character and quality of the fruit.
