About Winery and Wines

We have been cultivating this land since 1860. Our great-grandfather Domenico planted the olive trees. Many seasons have passed since then. Today we are the ones who take care of these olive trees and the vineyard. The district is called Chinesi, once inhabited by the Sicani, cultivated by the Arabs, then belonged to the Church of Agrigento by concession of the Normans, finally purchased for 800 scudi by the noble family of Barresi, of Norman origin. Recent studies would trace the name of the feud Chinesi to an ancient Byzantine church of which now are lost traces. The land is clear, calcareous, rich in calcium carbonate. The hill is 400 meters high, sunny, ventilated. The grapes grow healthy, ripen in the sun and refresh themselves at night. The patient olive trees let the wind caress them. That's what we do, we indulge nature.

The harvesting of ripe bunches of grapes rich in sugars where we have the best possible concentration of elements useful for the fermentation we create. For the various types of grapes and according to the types of wine that we produce the harvest can be performed in the months of August, September. The first step of the wine production cycle is the harvest. As in ancient times we perform the harvest by hand, to control and pick only the best bunches.
