But to be honest this is my passion and life's work for the past 20 years. What is Big Dog Vineyards to me? Four words:

1. EXPRESSIVE. Most of our wines are estate grown right on this hilltop in the east bay hills. Optimum soils and bay-influence weather make this the perfect location to grow Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The wines are delicious, intense, expressive and sometimes big. (It's hard to be Big Dog Vineyards and make a wimpy wine.) We feature intense flavorful red wines and french oak (full- ML) Chardonnay that also appeals to both white and red wine drinkers.

2. LOCAL: Our wines compete favorably with the best of Napa and Sonoma but when it's time to enjoy an afternoon of wine tasting we're just 3.2 miles up the hill from Silicon Valley. Rather than fight traffic to the wine country you can be here in minutes enjoying fine wines, great music, and a friendly atmosphere. We're honored to be your neighborhood winery that happens to be as good as it gets.

3. FRIENDLY: Our goal is to give you a warm friendly experience centered about great wine, good friends, and friendly company. Most Saturdays feature free live acoustic music on the patio. On clear days the view is from Almaden Valley to the SanFrancisco skyline.

4. CONSISTENT: The most frequent comment we hear from our customers is that they liked every single wine on the tasting flight. Why is this a surprise? Our wines are all made by hand with the utmost attention to our uni

Friendly atmosphere and great wine! Owners are at the tasting room often - very down to earth people doing what they love to do! Daisy (their dog) is also very friendly.

About Winery and Wines

Our winery and tasting room opened in 2009, right beside our estate vineyard planted twelve years earlier. For nearly twenty years we have worked to achieve the highest quality possible in every step from grapes to glass, maintaining an emphasis on traditional techniques and small production. Our tasting room and patio is open to the public every weekend. You can enjoy a selection of five wines in our tasting, or purchase by the glass or bottle. We don't offer food, so be sure to bring your favorite snacks, or pack a picnic to enjoy on our patio as you sip on a glass of one of our award-winning wines.
