About Winery and Wines

Bodega Siesto is a small winery carved into the rock, maintaining ideal humidity and temperature conditions year-round. It also has a fully equipped winery and an events area for tastings. It is located in the town of Sanzoles, Zamora, in a setting renowned for its great wines. A place with a long winemaking tradition, surrounded by vineyards, heritage, and ancient traditions.

The winery's philosophy is to create different, unique wines, outside of any rules, with the freedom to experiment to achieve the desired product: well-crafted wines full of nuances, offering something totally new to the consumer.

Víctor Siesto, winemaker and owner of the winery, is responsible for carrying out all operations from the winemaking, aging, and bottling processes, to marketing and distribution. Part of the raw materials come from the winery's own vineyard, and the rest from trusted suppliers, all of which are closely monitored throughout the year.

Each of our creations tells a story. All our wines are made with a concept, a feeling, or a reason for being. They are forged in a unique way and have a unique personality, often due to the combination of different grape varieties or simply through experimentation. We have an exclusive production of around 3,500 bottles per year, distributed among the different wines.

The wines I make are similar in philosophy. Personal wines, different, and with nuances. I always try to do things differently from others, producing them in an artisanal way and with great care. Since I don't adhere to any D.O., I have the freedom to manipulate the varieties, barrel aging times, and other characteristics as I wish. All the wines I sell are the result of years of experimentation until I achieve the perfect balance.

I have two red wines (Siesto and Vino de Contrabando) and one white (MaMa).

Siesto 2021 is more powerful, with more barrel aging, complex, and structured. It's a 50/50 blend of two varieties: Tempranillo (Toro) and Bruñal (Arribes del Duero), which spends two years in French oak barrels. I produce about 1,000 bottles a year.

Vino de Contrabando 2022 is somewhat softer, though with the same style as the previous one. It's a wine aged for one year in barrels and made from two grape varieties: 70% Tempranillo (Toro) and 30% Touriga Nacional (Portugal). I try to blend grapes from both sides of the Spanish-Portuguese border. I produce about 1,350 bottles a year.

MaMa 2023 is an orange wine made from a single variety, small-grain Muscat. It's a full-bodied and structured wine aged for nine months in barrels. This is a 100% charity wine, from which I donate all the profits to the fight against cancer. I only make 350 bottles a year, and if you'd like to have it, it would only be for curious customers who want to try something different. As I said, the production is very short and I run out very quickly.
