The Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor project began in Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid) in 1986 in the wake of the birth of the official Denominación de Origen Ribera del Duero certification. With a track record of more than 30 years of success, Bodegas y Viñedos Viña Mayor is known as an innovative highly positioned brand with regards to the quality of our range of wines from the regions of D.O. Ribera del Duero, D.O. Toro and D.O. Rueda. VIÑA MAYOR's position as an industry leader has been consolidated through the crafting of wines with personality, modern style and elegance. Our wines have repeatedly been awarded prizes by the world's most prestigious wine guides and top competitions.

In the heart of wine and monastery (numerous in the region) country, is located Viña Mayor. The winery is surrounded by vineyards and completely integrated into the landscape, overlooking the sinuous turns of the Duero River as it passes through Quintanilla de Onésimo. Our wonderful location on the highway from Aranda de Duero to Valladolid places us on the "Golden Mile" of the Ribera del Duero winegrowing region. The installations where our wine making and storage areas are found fuse modernity with the tradition of underground bodegas. This area, hidden underneath the winery, is much larger than the building on the surface, due to our near obsession with keeping temperatures within the ideal 15-16 degrees. With only ten hectares of vineyard on the winery grounds, Bodegas Viña Mayor collaborates with the best grape growers in the region through long term contracts. This allows us to control the quality of the grapes from the vineyard, and assures grapes of optimal health and maturity. Our modern installations boast the latest technologies, which allow us to harvest top quality fruit. Our wine making warehouse holds large stainless steel deposits with automatic remounting and double layering for better temperature control during fermentation. We also have 18,000-liter deposits for special selections.
