About Winery and Wines

The Sendra family has called the town of Les Pobles home for generations, dedicating their lives to the cultivation of vines. With time, passion, and an evolving approach to viticulture, the family has consistently produced high-quality grapes, selling them for decades to well-known wine houses. The first plots were acquired in 1986, and today the estate spans 89 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards.

In 2010, the Sendra brothers took a transformative step by founding Bodegues Visendra, a name that symbolizes not only their wine but also their family and values. More than a business, Visendra is a project rooted in emotion, identity, and the desire to share something deeply personal. It is an invitation for others to become part of their journey, just as many have already done.

The vineyards are located in Les Pobles and Santes Creus, near the historic monastery where monks once made wine centuries ago. This unique setting, with its combination of rich soils, Mediterranean climate, and ideal elevation, gives the grapes their distinctive character and ensures exceptional quality.

The land has a noble history. Acquired between 1884 and 1900, when noble families such as the Counts of Mora and Aragon and the Marques Olivella sold their holdings to local sharecroppers, it passed into the hands of the Sendra family and others in Aiguamúrcia, who have cultivated it for generations.

The cellar itself has its own story. Originally functioning as a winery until the 1970s, the building was purchased by the family around the year 2000. It initially served as a storage space for agricultural equipment until 2010, when it was lovingly restored and transformed into the winery’s new production facility, where Bodegues Visendra wines are now crafted.

Committed to sustainable farming, the vineyards are cultivated without pesticides or herbicides, driven by a respect for human health, environmental responsibility, and future generations. While production remains limited, the desire is to reach as many people as possible with wines that are genuine expressions of place, purpose, and people.

Bodegues Visendra is more than a winery — it is a heartfelt vision, built on land, legacy, and the strength of family.

Bodegues Visendra produces authentic wines under the Denomination of Origin Catalonia, a choice that reflects the unique position of their vineyards, located between two prestigious appellations: Penedès and Tarragona. This strategic location allows the winery to benefit from the diverse influences of both regions while crafting wines with a distinct identity.

From the very first harvest, Bodegues Visendra has embraced organic viticulture, though official certification through the CCPAE (Catalan Council for Ecological Agricultural Production) was obtained in 2018. Committed to sustainable and ethical winemaking, the winery also became vegan-certified in 2017, further aligning its practices with environmentally conscious values.

The production includes white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines, offered in both bottles and bag-in-box formats to meet different market needs while maintaining quality across all styles.

Currently, the winery produces approximately 40,000 liters of wine annually, bottling around 20,000 bottles, which represents just 4% of the total vineyard potential. This deliberate choice ensures full traceability and control over the entire production process, from vine to bottle, using only grapes grown on their own land. It also leaves room for gradual and sustainable growth, always rooted in quality and respect for the land.

Bodegues Visendra stands for more than wine — it represents a commitment to authenticity, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
