9/24/13
A small boutique family-owned and run winery that only produces 800 (or so) cases a year of estate-grown Cab Sauv, Cab Blend (Carrera), and Sauv Blanc. The wine (that we could try) was excellent and Doug (winemaker) was a pleasure to meet. Most of their wines are only open to wine club members but we appreciated the tasting of the Carrera.

About Winery and Wines

According to local lore, the estate house and barn were built circa 1890 by a prominent businessman for his mistress. The property was subsequently the home of a Russian princess, a prune and walnut orchard, a camellia nursery and a Christmas tree farm. Susan has redesigned the grounds to create the feel of a garden that might have been planted at the time the house was built, and has saved the old plantings and trees whenever possible. The gardens have something of fragrance in bloom at all times. We use only organic fertilizers and do not use chemical pesticides or fungicides. We have also researched the structures and plantings of that era and have incorporated both whenever practical.
