About Winery and Wines

Borgo Antico is a family owned winery in the hills of Conegliano Veneto, a land with moraine origins and a clay-rich core, which has always been devoted to the cultivation of the vine, giving its wines delicate fragrances and particularly determined aromas. The adventure began in 1973 when Mr. Marchesin Vito decided to produce local wine, involving his entire family, but mainly his son Leonardo, who has always accompanied him in the vineyard since childhood, therefore absorbing the atmosphere, and learning the secrets of a fascinating world. This is how Leonardo began his career as oenologist, and how since 1995 has taken over the company now owning 15 acres of land and producing 70,000 bottles of wine per year. The most widely grown variety, namely 80% of total production, is the Prosecco, this is the CONEGLIANO-VALDOBBIADENE PROSECCO SUPERIORE DOCG and other autochthonous such as Marzemino and Verdiso, while the rest is represented by Merlot, Cabernet and Chardonnay.

Our winery uses only grapes of its own production, and those of bestowers which have been carefully selected and supervised even in the vines. Special care starts with the consideration given to the plant by avoiding herbicides and minimizing the use of chemical products. The harvest, done exclusively by hand in boxes, certainly adds value and quality to the final product. This is all nationally recognized with awards such as Vinitaly (Bronze medal for the spumante Prosecco DOC Conegliano-Valdobbiadene 2008), numerous reviews in magazines such as “Grandi Spumanti Italiani” - “I Grandi Vini” - “Guida Bollicine” and in the guide “Gambero Rosso” awarded as Italian Spumante with the best value for money; there are also other numerous awards at both regional and local level.
