Awesome visit to Burgess last December. Such a cool place and a great tasting. Ask about the vintage Cabernet they have going back to the 70's, it's worth picking up an old bottle!

About Winery and Wines

When Tom purchased the 1870’s era winery in 1972 he established himself as a pioneer of mountain side wineries. At the time, there were only approximately 2 dozen wineries in operation in the whole of Napa Valley and he saw the potential of mountain vineyards to produce wines that evoke the French concept of terroir: that the grapes, and thus wines, should reflect the vineyard’s soil, exposure, and overall micro-climate.

At Burgess Cellars we know that nurturing our vineyards is critical - not just to the quality of wine but also for our employees who tend to the vineyards. This gentle approach allows us to maintain vineyards in a manner that they can be passed down from generation to generation. The finest testament to these efforts can be found in the fact that our vineyard is over 130 years old and continues to produce grapes worthy of the Burgess name.
