About Winery and Wines

Angelo Paternò arrives in Noto in 2001, after having gained numerous professional experiences around Sicily. The light and the vicinity to the sea make him fall in love with Val di Noto, an area he already knew very well, under a pedoclimatic profile. In 2007 he started the project of building the winery, finished in 2009, realizing his initial idea shared with his daughter Marilina: the wines he could finally produce were and are with a strong identity, with a vigorous bond with the territory and come out from the natural process of life cycles, without any forcing. For this reason the already existing vineyards have been kept for an extension of 25 hectares (82 acres), to which ten more have been added with new plantings, including international grapes, today represented by Currivu white and red. Since the beginning Cantina Marilina has focused its production on three autochthonous grapes: Nero d'Avola, Moscato and Grecanico, following and supporting the natural phases of the vineyard.

The attention paid to the care of the vines is the same that can be found in the workings done inside the winery, up to the final casing, in fact are used recyclable glass bottles as well as paper for labels which is strictly made of natural recycled paper and corks are made of natural cork, all in line with the production methodology adopted. Cantina Marilina has been organic since 2001. The existing saplings have been maintained and are now between 40 and 50 years old. It looks like the classic system of the past, which wanted the vines together with the fruit trees. History, like nature, is a master!
