Perched on a gentle hill, Bettona overlooking Perugia, Assisi, Spello and Montefalco as an extraordinary balcony of the Umbrian Valley. In this natural viewpoint, on the plain of Passage, the company is based cooperative “Cantine Bettona” which, incorporated in 1960, brings together the work and passion of wine producers of the town of Bettona and surrounding areas. The company currently has about 200 members manufacturers of highly selected grapes from 180 hectares of vineyards, mainly cultivated in the best locations on the hillside. It is the responsibility of the Cantina select and control conferred on grapes to make wine then, using the best current and winemaking technology, respecting an ancient tradition.

The pursuit of quality starts from the harvest of the grapes, which is programmed according to the degree of ripeness. The grapes are carefully collected, they are deprived of the stalk; by doing so it is operating a first pressing, which preserves the integrity of the berry. Subsequently, thanks to a soft and gradual pressing and to a selective enzymatic maceration, we are able to better express the organoleptic characteristics of the fruit of the screw. The fermentation process that follows takes place at a controlled and constant temperature: in this way arise the scents and primary and secondary aromas of the wine, which characterize the personality and character. The result of this painstaking work gives life to our wines, with Controlled Denomination of Origin “Colli Martani” and IGT “Umbria” and “Bettona” Traditional combination Grechetto, Trebbiano and Sangiovese, and other varietal wines such as Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon.
