About Winery and Wines
Nestled between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the marble-crowned peaks of the Apuan Alps, Cantine Ramarro crafts wines that are deeply rooted in a harsh yet captivating landscape. The vineyards, characterized by steep slopes exceeding 30%, are true examples of heroic viticulture. Terraced and difficult to access, these ancient plots are painstakingly restored and cultivated by hand using biodynamic principles. No herbicides are used, and grassing is carefully managed to preserve the natural balance of flora and fauna.
Founded in 2015 by architect and sailor Andrea Tarabella, Cantine Ramarro is the result of a profound passion for the land and its native grape varieties. Each bottle tells the story of a unique terroir shaped by mountain winds and maritime influences. The goal is to produce wines that reflect authenticity and excellence, without interventionist practices that compromise nature's character.
In the cellar, tradition is honored with the revival of vintage concrete barrels, where fermentation and aging occur under controlled conditions. Sulphite use is minimal, oxygen exposure is carefully managed, and the number of rackings is reduced to allow natural yeasts to express themselves. The result is a collection of wines that are never standardized – each vintage is unique, shaped by the season and the soil, with its own personality and expression.
Cantine Ramarro’s Vermentino DOC and Rossi DOC have earned recognition among Tuscany’s finest, receiving national and international awards for their purity and distinctive style. Every decision, from vineyard to bottle, is guided by respect for the environment and a commitment to letting the land speak through its wines.
