About Winery and Wines

In 1970 the Rossi family became the owner of part of the lands in the countryside of Sammichele di Bari, Casamassima, Gioia del Colle and Acquaviva delle Fonti that were owned by Count Michele Vaaz and by succession of the Princes Enrico and Francesco Saverio Caracciolo di Vietri. In 1978 he founded the Azienda Agricola F.lli Rossi with the intention of cultivating cherry orchards, olive groves and vineyards on the land he owned. In 2004 the company, led with great passion and dedication by Vito Rossi, firmly believing in the potentiality of the territory and its autochthonous vines, decided to convert 25 hectares with a new espalier planting dedicated to a great historical vine of the south: Primitivo.

The vineyards of the winery extend for tens of hectares in the noble wine area between Gioia del Colle, Sammichele di Bari and Acquaviva delle Fonti, in the areas of Parco Giumenta, San Pietro del Baronaggio and Macchia delle Sorbe. The training system is a spurred cordon with a number of vines per hectare equal to 6,800 and an average yield per hectare of about 70 quintals. Soils are located at an altitude of 330 meters above sea level and their composition is calcareous, clayey, rich in iron, magnesium and mineral salts.
