About Winery and Wines

To us, winemaking is the art of coaxing wonderful fruit flavors from individual grape varieties while also blending different grapes to create unique bouquets and mouthfeels not found in our varietals. For our white wines, we whole cluster press our white grapes and ferment them in stainless steel tanks or barrels. We also age some of our white wines in almost neutral oak barrels to achieve more complex flavors. For our red wines, we destem, crush and ferment grapes on their skins so their beautiful color and flavor blossom in each glass. Our red wines are processed through malolactic fermentation and aged in French oak barrels for 18 months. All wines from Coastal Vineyards also are bottle-aged to enhance their unique flavors and characteristics.

Coastal Vineyards is a family-owned, boutique winery nestled in southeastern Massachusetts near the shore. We purchased this land in 2004 and prepped the vineyard’s rich soil before planting our first grapes in 2005 and 2006 on eight acres. We grow 12 distinct grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminette, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin and Marquette. In the spring of 2014, we expanded our vineyard to 10 acres to accommodate additional Chambourcin and five new grape varieties: Vidal Blanc, Seyval Blanc, Valvin Muscat, Aromella and Cayuga. Our inaugural crop in 2008 yielded seven tons of grapes and produced about 300 cases of wine. Our current production is approx. 800 cases. Our vineyard’s future potential wine production is approximately 1,000 – 1200 cases.
