Boutique wines to be sure. Very limited releases, friendly staff, a casual vibe, and pretty reasonable prices. We didn't particularly like the wines, ourselves, but we appreciated the experience and the quality put forth into the wine production. Some pretty good blends in particular.

Coffaro Wines is a family-run winery of the type that used to dominate the Russian River Valley. David Coffaro's specialty is blending and he has an uncanny ability to put together winning wines from exceptional grapes, both estate grown and locally purchased. Finished wines are available for purchase, but the best deal by far (if you have the patience) is to purchase futures in the Spring (prices are usually announced in April or May) for delivery about 15 months later. These are sold at a substantial discount to the retail and the bang for the buck is enormous, since these are top-shelf wines. The majority of their offerings are red, but they've often put together a white or two, and the occasional (and delicous) Rosé. Informal, unstuffy, and highly recommended.

About Winery and Wines

It is our belief at David Coffaro Vineyard & Winery that wine should be sold at a fair price (check out our rant on this in the Winemaker's Diary). To that end, we have created our "Crazy Back to the Futures Program," which works like this: Our initial offering (usually in April of each year) always has the lowest prices, but it is available only for a limited time. We watch the development of the grapes in the vineyard and as soon as the potential crop has been determined and/or the harvest is in, the price of the initial offering goes up. Prices may change any time during the growing season. The beginning of March typically brings another price increase as we get ready for the next year's futures offering. So, to get the BEST prices, the "early bird catches the worm!" We don't restrict anyone from buying our wine unless we are sold out. Therefore, we don't maintain a mailing list except for the people who buy our futures so that we can notify them when the wine is ready to pick up or ship. We encourage people to taste either our bottled wines here at the winery, or stop by for a visit to barrel sample our wine futures. The winery is open daily from 11:00 to 4:00, with the exception of a few major holidays. Please don't hesitate to contact us directly by e-mail or phone if you want to be sure that the winery is open at the time you plan to make a visit.
