Such a gorgeous vineyard; and I don't visit vineyards anymore, but Carie had our thirty year class reunion from high school at DeLouch. The location was spectacular. The scenes, especially with the sun up only to set later in the evening, where extraordinary. What a perfect place, especially to visit. We came in from Las Vegas, Nevada, where we don't get to experience the delight that DeLoach offers in Sonoma.

Biodynamic farming and great hospitality with pre-prohibition, traditional winemaking techniques; this is what sets DeLoach apart from the rest of Sonoma. Their grape-growing team-leader and head viticulturist, Eric, is the president of the Organic North Coast Grape Growers Association. *****

About Winery and Wines

As a pioneering producer and winegrower of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Zinfandel in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley, DeLoach Vineyards has been experimenting with and perfecting the best combinations of soil, rootstock and clones for over three decades. In 2003, the Boisset family brought two generations of sustainable winemaking experience from Burgundy, France to California’s Russian River Valley and pulled up the estate vineyards that had just produced Wine Enthusiast magazine’s 2004 wine of the year: DeLoach Vineyards’ 30th Anniversary Cuvée Pinot Noir. The award-winning vineyards were replanted with cover crops in order to revitalize the soil and in the meantime, DeLoach partnered with winegrowers equally dedicated to and passionate about eco-friendly farming practices and the production of high-quality wines. Wine & Spirits magazine named DeLoach Vineyards a Top 100 Winery for the twelfth time in the winery’s history in 2012.

DeLoach Vineyards, the pioneering Russian River Valley producer of award-winning Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Zinfandel, released its Estate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with the 2010 vintage. Our Estate Vineyard is certified Biodynamic® and organic, and represents the culmination of a long and dedicated effort to become a more self-sustaining and environmentally friendly producer of fine wine. The Durell Vineyard, located just west of the town of Sonoma, was purchased in 1979 by Ed Durell, a businessman from San Francisco, who immediately teamed up with vineyard manager Steve Hill. When the land was purchased, the two gentlemen converted a cow pasture into what is considered one of the most prestigious vineyards for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes today. Paul and Vicki’s Hawk Hill Vineyard is full of history; it was first planted by the Russians in the 1820s. Prior to Prohibition a century later, it was known as O’Farrell Hill (after Jasper O’Farrell who supplied redwood trees from this plot to help build the city of San Francisco during the late 1840’s.
