Been here twice this year with family...

Been here twice this year with family & friends, but can't recommend the sit-down meal. The winery is simply over-hyped. With the price I've paid to eat here, I would have declined if I knew how loud the volume level was inside. I don't know if it's people being loud because they are drunk, or just that there's too many people in a small room - but it's impossible to have a conversation with anyone at the same table as you. And we're talking about coffee table sizes here, so your dinner guests are very close to you. The food and wine are delicious, especially the sparkling white. Expect to pay around $30-45 for one glass of wine and a small cheese sampler. The cheeses were from Cowgirl Creamery both times I went. Would recommend if only the noise level were lower. The architecture and landscaping are stunning, by the way.

A most favorite pinot noir of mine. Pleasant place to enjoy the wine. Nice small plates to enjoy with them.

The reason I gave them 3 stars...

The reason I gave them 3 stars is to average out the good with the bad. Our tour guide, Janna was FANTASTIC. Knowledgeable, friendly, and a great hostess. The product is average to good but over priced. The waiters in the tasting room have no personality and are borderline rude. The small cheese and meat plates could have been a lot better for the price. In summary, pretentious

Completely random visit but sure glad it happened. Hands down one of the best burgers I've ever had. Having traveled the states/world and consider myself a beef connoisseur I can't remember a purely better tasting burger... temperature medium, nice red center.

About Winery and Wines

Founded by the noble family behind Champagne Taittinger, Claude Taittinger's search for a worthy U.S. counterpart began in the late 1970s. In 1987 he selected a 138-acre parcel in the heart of Carneros, Napa Valley. Wisely selecting Eileen Crane to oversee the development of the winery and vineyards, the team created the quintessential California expression of the Taittinger style in Carneros. The heart of Domaine Carneros has always been sparkling wines, with distinctive styles ranging from the classic vintage-dated Brut cuvée to our luxury Le Rêve Blanc de Blancs. In 1992 we added rich, complex Pinot Noir to our portfolio and our passion for sparkling and still wines continues to grow. Learn about sparkling winemaking and Eileen Crane, Pinot Noir winemaking and TJ Evans, and our portfolio of wines. All of our wines proudly hail from the Carneros appellation, and 95% of our fruit comes from our estate vineyards. More on our vineyards. As anyone who has driven between Napa and Sonoma can tell you, the Domaine Carneros château is a stunning regional landmark. Join us for tableside service on the terrace or in the salon and savor the spirit of the Northern California wine country. Read more about the château or plan your visit.
