THE ART OF GROWING VINES: THE SOUL OF THE VALLAT FAMILY

The Vallat Family is, above all, a story shaped by passion, tradition, and love for our land.
It all began in the heart of Languedoc, and it is still here that we have been cultivating our treasures since 1930.

Our passion for winemaking was passed down to us from our grandmother’s side of the family.
Right here, among the beautiful landscapes of Montpeyroux, our great-great-grandfather Elie, with the precious help of his horse Pierrot, tended to his vines, olive trees, and vegetable garden.

Elie was a visionary — a dreamer who believed in the magic of the vines and the land.
He cared for each vine stock, watching them grow day by day. And it was in the back of the family home’s garage that the very first Vallat Family cuvées were vinified — in concrete vats that still exist to this day.

Our family’s roots in Montpeyroux go beyond working the land.
It was our great-grandfather himself who built the church bell tower in Montpeyroux, and to this day, we cultivate that memory with pride, listening to the soft chime of the bells as we work among our vines.

Then came the time of our grandfather Roger.
It was during this period that cooperative wineries began to appear.
Although he continued to grow vines, he also developed a business in public works and agriculture — which, truth be told, he preferred.
With his equipment and know-how, he had everything he needed to tend his fifteen or so hectares of vines.

And that’s when our father, Jean-François, entered the Vallat Family story.
He brought his grapes to the Montpeyroux cooperative while also learning the secrets of winemaking alongside an old village winemaker who aged his wines in the back of his garage.
Every day, our father worked tirelessly, with infinite patience and deep love for his vines.

Determined to carry on the family legacy, he dreamed of developing the estate.
Thanks to him, we now have the chance to work with some truly exceptional parcels — over the years, he bought small plots scattered around Montpeyroux, gradually expanding the vineyard.
He even reached into the neighboring vineyards of Saint-Saturnin, opening a new chapter in our family’s history.

The imprint of unique terroirs

In the heart of the sun-drenched Languedoc region, our three estates each tell their own story — with unique charm and, above all, exceptional terroir.
The diversity of our soils, grape varieties, and microclimates gives rise to a beautiful range of aromas, structure, and intensity.

Every bottle bearing the Vallat Family seal is the result of our close relationship with the land, our expertise passed down from generation to generation, and our desire to express the very soul of our terroirs.

CHÂTEAU MANDAGOT: EXCEPTIONAL WINES FROM LANGUEDOC

Château Mandagot, the latest addition to the Terrasses du Larzac vineyards, is located on the magnificent terroir of Montpeyroux.
Here, each parcel is carefully chosen with a single goal in mind: to craft exceptional wines.

The vines, spread across 50 hectares of clay-limestone soil, flourish under the Mediterranean sun and are gently swept by the Occitan winds.
The wines from this estate are fresh, with notes of blackcurrant, licorice, mint, and camphor.

“It’s the family cradle, my favorite parcel…”

CHÂTEAU D’ARBORAS: WHERE ELEGANCE MEETS TERROIR IN LANGUEDOC

In the heart of the Saint-Saturnin appellation, the vines of Château d’Arboras thrive across some twenty hectares.
The estate is certified organic, and recently, ten additional hectares were planted to expand the diversity of cultivated grape varieties.

Here, the vines enjoy the full benefits of the Mediterranean climate. The slopes, facing due south, receive maximum sunshine throughout the day.
The resulting wines are elegant, well-structured, and carry the unmistakable imprint of this unique terroir.

“This is where we work…”
