About Winery and Wines

Located in the Okanagan’s premier grape region, Gehringer Brothers is nestled in the heart of the well-known Golden Mile area south of Oliver. It is tucked in among several neighbouring wineries, overlooking an expanse of vineyard and orchards as far as Osoyoos Lake. The vineyard’s southeast aspect and gentle slopes give the vines excellent exposure to sunshine, while the elevated location on the bench keeps the vines safely above the Fall frost zone. The high mountain slopes behind the vineyards to the west provide evening shade, resulting in a rapid cool-off during summer, which is turn prevents the grape acids from dropping. That is what shapes the Gehringer style: a fine balance between ripe, sweet fruit and firm, clean acidity. The Gehringer brother’s dream of an estate winery goes back to 1973. After high school Walter Gehringer went to West Germany for five years where he acquired his fine wine-making skills, graduating from the world-renowned University of Geisenheim with an Engineering degree in viticulture and oenology. His brother Gordon also spent four years in West Germany studying the wine master’s art and graduating with a degree from Weinsberg.
