We took the tour and really enjoyed our experience. The property is beautiful and they have a wonderful terrace. We visited a few other wineries in the same day and enjoyed our experience here much more. The people are so nice and so respectful. I felt very comfortable here and the atmosphere was very laid back and fun. I would recommend this place to anyone who is new to the California wine country and you love sparkling wine.

Gloria Ferrer is the place to be in Sonoma Valley if you love champagne. We did the food and sparking wine pairing- a light lunch but a lot of fun if you take the time to savor each bite and enjoy each wine. The views are amazing and worth the drive. On top of this, the staff was amazing and knowledgable about the wines.

Our hostess was wonderful and went above and beyond to help us understand sparkling wines a bit better. She was passionate about her job and it showed.

Very welcoming staff, even if you're a younger adult - always nice to be treated like we belong there. Drinks were, of course, fantastic, and the cheese and olive plates were delicious and very reasonable priced. Speaking of which, their black olives were incredible, I've never had any as flavorful. Bottles to go are also very reasonably priced.

If you are looking for an education on sparkling wine production with a view, I recommend a visit. Their tour was extremely generous in the amount of wine you got to taste, as well as highly educational. Their grounds are gorgeous and after the tour you can sit out on the terrace and look at the sloping hills of Sonoma. A great way to end a day of wine tasting.

About Winery and Wines

Back in the early 80’s there were only a handful of winegrowers planting Pinot Noir in Carneros. And yet, the Ferrer Family knew the key to a world-class méthode champenoise wine would be Pinot Noir. The Gloria Ferrer winemaking team’s quest for perfection takes them to Champagne where they manage to acquire Pinot Noir and Chardonnay clones. Gloria Ferrer is not only the first sparkling wine house in Sonoma Carneros, but also the first to plant Champagne clones and the first to plant in Carneros. Almost thirty years later, with 335 acres under vine, the estate vineyards at Gloria Ferrer produce Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that rival some of the world’s finest.

Nature does her part. In the Sonoma Carneros region abundant sunshine and cool bay breezes help Pinot Noir and Chardonnay ripen to delicate perfection. The seasoned crew at Gloria Ferrer hand farms every block, row, vine and cluster, carefully isolating and nurturing each distinctive flavor. There is a veritable montage of flavors in every sip. Pinot Noir’s depth, lushness and silky mouth feel. Chardonnay’s crisp floral acidity. Every nuance coaxed so carefully from the estate vineyards comes together to reward those who take a little extra time to fully appreciate them. There are no shortcuts in the méthode champenoise process. It’s the time-honored and time intensive approach to crafting sparkling wine. The vast palette of flavors from the vineyard comes together in blends that will spend from 3 to 10 years in underground caves.
