I came here for a rehearsal, wedding, and reception. We also stayed over night in one of the cabins. The wine tasting bar has quick service and the staff is friendly. The setting outside for the wedding was gorgeous, the ballroom inside was as well. The bartender for the reception wasn't alwaits available was the big down side.

The cabins are cozy, although pretty cold inside. There is a futon in addition to the bed, and we comfortably had 4 adults use the cabin. Rental includes a bottle of wine and a few breakfast type snacks and drinks. The cabin also has a jacuzzi, and small kitchenette. Our cabin was not handicap accessible.

We had a great experience for our class reunion. Delicious food, a nice variety of wine for everyone's taste. The music Hidden Lake Winery had playing by the Lake was first rate. We thought the evening would be to cold to be outside, but they have a great setup of heaters and fire pits. A large wedding was going on in the same building and we could not hear them. Would recommend for any event or a fun outing to a beautiful winery.

About Winery and Wines

Welcome! Hidden Lake Winery and Banquet Center, located in rural Aviston, IL, is situated in “Silent Forest,” a wooded parcel of land abounding in local lore. These woods have been well known to those who hunt deer and wild mushrooms. Bootleggers hid their still back in these woods to dodge the “revenuers” in the early 1900′s. Legend has it that Indian spirits can be seen to roam here at night accompanied by the songs of frogs, crickets, owls and distant coyotes. The “Silent Forest” continues to enchant and entertain our guests at Hidden Lake Winery. Our winemaking began in 2004 and is influenced by the German heritage of the farming families who settled this part of Illinois. We have been told of several wineries that flourished here prior to the Prohibition. Zuckerbach vineyard supplies grapes to Hidden Lake Winery and is located on property once farmed by the owner’s father. Zuckerbach (“Sugar Creek” in German) is named for a local creek that passes through the county. At Hidden Lake Winery, our goal is to offer a variety of wines that will satisfy many different palates. Our wines are produced with locally-grown fruit and bottled here in our cellar. Guests can enjoy a glass of wine (or other beverage if desired) in a tranquil setting with old friends, or perhaps with new ones.
