My husband and I went in for a tasting and were so completely impressed with Hilmy Cellars.
We walked in when it was very very busy; it is usually tough for even the best wineries to give good service when they are that packed, but wow!
I am an educator so I am so happy when people teach others about a craft that they obviously have a passion for, and this is the staff at Hilmy. We learned about the time different grapes spend on the vine, how long the skin is on in different processes and we even got to meet the

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! Hilmy was by far the best winery in the area. It was so sad we went here first because we were very let down by the others we went to after. The wine was the best, you could taste how natural and without chemicals the wines were. Every other place tasted like plastic or chemicals. The staff and environment of Hilmy was just perfect. It was very personal and cozy. Definitely coming back!

The staff was nice, the outdoor seating was cooled by a misting system that cut the Texas heat & the wine was good.

A very neat winery with a different feel than a lot of the bigger places on 290. You might not love all their wine, but I promise you'll find it interesting. The covered porch area is a fantastic place to hang out and enjoy a glass while you talk, read, or play a board game.

About Winery and Wines

On our proprerty, we abhor the unthoughtful application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and avoid those to the extent that we are able. We are not “Organic,” and will likely not strive for such designation, but we do what we think is best for the wine and for our land. The natural compost applied between the rows is turned and fermented on the property. Insects are devoured by the flock of Guinea Fowl, while another Texas vineyard menace, white tail deer, is kept at bay by a pair of Great Pyrenees. For the most part. Our approach is certainly difficult to pin down. We take from the best of what we know, attempt to learn as much as we can, from the earth as well as tradition, and simply discard whatever is left over without so much as a second thought.
