About Winery and Wines

Huxbear vineyard is situated in the Teign Valley (near Chudleigh) in South East Devon, tucked in between Dartmoor National Park and the English Channel. The site was carefully selected (from a list of dozens) and benefits from south and south west facing slopes and silt loam soils with silt stone, limestone and granite beneath. The vineyards are planted in two fields: South Field: South facing, with 4000 French Pinot Noir vines (used in our still Pinot Noir) and 4000 Chardonnay vines (used in our still Chardonnay). We have since planed 1300 Chardonnay vines and 200 Pinot Noir vines in South field in 2013 and have now run out of space. West Field: South west facing, with 2000 Chardonnay vines (used in our still Chardonnay), 1000 each of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (which will be used for rosé), 1500 Bacchus vines, 750 Schonberger and 750 Siegerrebe (which, astonishingly enough, are German and are used for the Corbinian).
